Get the Look – go blue

By admin on March 21st, 2006 3 comments

GtlblueEver thought you could only wear white at your wedding? Think again. It is your day so you can wear whatever you please and if that means going for colour then go for it in a big way by wearing blue.

There are plenty of gorgeous gowns and accessories designed especially for the non traditional bride. Feeling blue at your wedding couldn’t be further from the truth with our Get The Look guide to looking fantastic. Why else would some clever spark have made up that rhyme… something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… ?

Dress ‘Gracie’ from Special Day Weddings £399.99

Gtlblue3_1The dress on the left is a one piece gown with a stiff chiffon underskirt and a satin apron style overlay. The corset is strapless and embroidered. It is definately designed to take centre stage so keep the rest of your accessories simple.

With this kind of dress, hair should be swept into a loose up-do and could be secured with flower hair pins, £6.99 for four from Next. Crystal looks great next to blue and so we quite liked this Amanda Wyatt crystal tiara too (both left).

Finding any kind of blue footwear is near impossible so we recommend finding a stylish pair of heels and having them dyed to match the dress. Girls of Elegance have a Try before you Dye service for £30 so you can check out the fit and style before you have the shoes colour matched to your swatch. This pair would look gorgeous blue £44.96

Keep flowers simple – go all white with a rose posy or add in a touch of colour with a mixed blue and white tulip bouquet. Blu eor white roses would make great button holes for the groom and attendants.

That dress is beautiful!! My mom married in a pastel green dress with a very fine cream lace covering back in 1981 – she set a lot of tongues wagging that day… but she was so happy that she’d stuck to her guns and followed her heart 😀

I’m really sorry but that is absolutely hideous. It looks like little Bo Peep minus the sheep. The satin and chiffon mix is yuk and the baby blue is not cool! I really like the idea of blue but why not go for a stronger hue rather than sitting on the fence with this neither here nor there, babyish colour!

    Ouch! Sorry!

  • Zoe’s right. It’s just hideous — like 80’s highschool prom. It just needs some fingerless lace gloves.
