TrousseauI wonder how many brides-to-be actually arrange or even plan for their trousseau these days? I’ll make a guess and say it is a single figure percentage after all many couple already live together or have their own places prior to marriage.

Traditionally the trousseau (meaning ‘small bundle’) would be made up of everything a bride needed as she entered her new home – her clothing, linens and household items. Often these items would be handsewn by female members of the family over many years, stored in a wooden hope chest and were a sign of the family’s wealth and social standing.
