Wendy1Our second bride in our Real Brides series is Wendy from North Carolina. Although Wendy’s best friend was adament that Wendy would marry Jason one day, Wendy wasn’t interested… for long! With six months to plan their wedding and a tight budget, Wendy says she managed to get a fabulous wedding without sacrificing style… and the pictures are certainly a testament to that!

Hi Wendy! Tell our readers about you met your husband…

Jason and I met at a gym. I was working there and he worked out there and my best friend Brittiany told me ‘I know someone I want you meet. You are perfect for each other!’ But I saw him and I wasn’t interested! Brittiany assured me we would end up married one day….

Wendy2_1Where was the ceremony/ reception held?
Seven Gables in Creedmoor North Carolina

How many Bridesmaids and Groomsmen did you have and what did they wear?
We had 4 Bridesmaids and 4 Groomsmen with 2 junior Bridesmaids and a junior Groomsman and a flower girl. Big party! 🙂 The bridesmaids wore hot pink floor length gowns. The color was "Lipstick" and they carried gerber daisies.

Did you have a theme, and if so, how did you carry it through?
My only "theme" was to have hot pink and orange colors for everything with gerber daisies. My invitations had pink gerbers, chocolates had orange and pink gerbers on the wrappers and everything matched to that aspect.

What – if anything – inspired your day i.e. celebs, relations?
My dream wedding day – I had it all in my head from day 1!!

What type of favours did you have?
Flower Seeds – the packet read "Plant the seeds and watch them bloom just like the love of this bride and groom", chocolate, mints wrapped in a cute paper and bubbles too.

Any mishaps on/ before the day – how did you overcome them?
Oh yes! Being that I waited until the last minute for ALOT of stuff…We didn’t even have the flowers yet UNTIL THE WEDDING day! I totally forgot about them! It was a outdoor wedding and it rained the morning of- It made me nervous but my wedding was at 5:00pm and it stopped raining about 8am and it was beautiful!

Also I am a cosmetologist and I did ALL my girl’s hair! WOW –
what a hard thing to try to do!! Also I stepped on my dress and it broke the button that hooks the train…so I had to hold my train up..all night! Ahhhh!!!

Who paid? (You don’t have to say how much unless you want too)
I was >fortunate enough that my parents paid. I would say total cost was about $5 or 6,000. Give or take…

What was your best bargain/ most extravagant purchase?
Best Bargain was my going away car-it was free!!! My dress was $1,500 and the ceremony site was £1,200 those were two pretty pricy perchases…

What would be your best tip for brides-to-be?
Pace yourself and MAKE TIME for everything! Dont get too rushed and forget stuff like i did! Also
dont try to always go the cheapest way out.

If you could do it again, would you do anything differently?
Im not sure of anything right now I can think of to do differently. Everything was so smooth!!

Did you go on honeymoon and if so, where?
We went to the beach. My husband’s aunt has a condo and we stayed for ……FREE the entire week!
