Yay or Nay Wednesday

By admin on August 16th, 2006 5 comments

16aug_yay_nay Last weeks over accessorising seemed not to please! Lose the prom look and get some flowers featured in your comments and I bet Heidi is right – there are probably shoes to match.

What do you think of this straight dress? It has a high waist with ribbon and buckle detail, a mermaid skirt and a very high collar. The gloves complete the look. Is it too Wicked Queen or is it Disney Princess? But more to the point, is it a Yay or Nay for you and why?

And there is just enough space to plug our Debates section. It’s as easy as easy can be – I ask a wedding related question (or you could email one in) and the collective wisdom of our readers provides the answers. See all our current debates here.

Nay. It would look lovely, but for that awful high collar. If you chopped off the top, making it strapless, keep a little slit in the middle (a bit o’ cleavage never hurt), and even kept the belt and gloves, it’d look Audrey-Hepburn-lovely! (I love the fishtail skirt).

As it stands, it’s a bit of a Saturday Night Fever throwback 😉

Yay! I think it could work if you got rid of the gloves, and instead wore a wrap or a bolero type thing, and I think it would make a lovely winter gown.

  • Yay! It would look awful on me, but on the right person it could be stunning. Nay to the gloves though – just a little bir Cruella de Ville!

  • Lose the gloves, and yay, because as a rule I like high necked bridal gowns. I’m tired of strapless.
