How Many Wedding Gowns Did You Try?

By admin on October 31st, 2006 2 comments

Tonight I’m off to my first wedding dress fitting, which means that I get to walk around in my underwear in front of a complete stranger for a while. Gulp. For some reason, I’m actually a bit nervous about this – probably because I haven’t had a whole lot of practise with trying on dresses. In my search for the perfect wedding dress I spent a lot of time on designer’s websites, but only ever visited one store to try the dresses on in person.

In retrospect, I actually found my dress very quickly, and sometimes this gives me just a little bit of wedding related angst. Did I look around for long enough? Did I pick the right dress? What if there’s another dress out there that would suit me better? And so it goes on. Part of the problem, of course, is that the dress I picked doesn’t yet fit me properly, which makes it difficult to get a good idea of what it’ll look like when it does. Hopefully tonight will assuage all my doubts and make me stop dreaming of the ones that got away. In the meantime, tell me: how many dresses did you try on, and how did you know when you’d found The One?

I know what you mean, i went with the first dress i tried on to, and then worried it wasn’t right, but as soon as you try the dress properly fitted to you , you will remember why you went for it, trust your instincts. You will be fabulous. x

Hi tried on more than I could count. What a pain in the neck! I knew I had found the one because for one, my mother and matron of honor teared up when I came out in it, and two, when I saw myself in the mirror the first thing I noticed was me, not the dress. The dress should bring focus to you and not the dress, so I knew I had the right one. I should have stopped looking after that because everything else was a disapointment. Have no regrets, I’m sure you found it!
