Ian Stuart isn’t a designer known for demure, understated gowns as he veers more towards overblown statements, rich colours and the kind of glamour you normally only see on period gowns from BBC dramas. So you could say I’m pleasantly surprised to find this gem amongst his collection.
The ‘Fonteyn’ is a bias cut, wrap over dress that flares into a mermaid skirt. Detail is a high priority for this dress, it shimmers with crystals and sequins and the skirt opens into a side split to display the fabric hand made corsage and fan-tailed underskirt.
