Yay or Nay Wednesday

Yaynay29novLast week I asked you what you thought of a dress that revealed ruffles of lace at the hem and neckline and it got a unanimous yay – especially from our own Amber who had considered this dress herself! It’s from Ritva Westenius.

I’m normally quite averse to patterns on wedding dresses but I’m sitting on the fence for this one. Take a look at the trailing organza roses on the skirt – will it only work at a country wedding (think rolling meadows, wildflowers and stone churches) or would you rather not see it anywhere? Yay or Nay and why?

Nay. Sorry. The bodice and ribbon combo do not match very well with the skirt, and if you did find smth that would fit with the skirt, we would all be in froufrou hell.

The bodice is nice, but below the waist, she looks like she’s wearing a table-cloth.

Hmm, a nay from me. The roses on the skirt are weirdly placed and give it an unbalanced look (and not in the good asymmetrical way!). There’s just something off about the cohesiveness of the entire dress.

  • This dress just doesn’t look right, and I don’t think there is anything you could do to pull this whole look together, unless it’s a mauvey-pink shawl–then we get into frou-frou hell as Calyx says. It also makes her look hippy, which is odd.
