Get the Look: high street chic

By admin on January 12th, 2007 2 comments

Not only can dedicated wedding stores be expensive, they often have very long lead times for dresses – not ideal if you’ve decided to have your wedding in the next six months, and need your dress soon! Luckily, the choice and quality offered on the high street these days means it’s now much easier to buy your dress off the peg without anyone being any the wiser! This outfit consists entirely of high street picks: the dress is Monsoon’s ‘Imogen’ empire dress, which is just £160, and Ravel’s ‘Rune’ sandals (£45) compliments it perfectly. If you’re planning a winter wedding, Next’s cream feather shrug is £22, and will keep your shoulders warm, while Debenham’s sterling silver heart necklace is a sweet finishing touch at £60.

I always get annoyed at the notion that if you tag anything with “wedding” it means you can hike up the price. My bridesmaid dresses are from Monsoon and they are fabulous. Their prices are super for brides on a budget!

  • Totally agree, Juji – sometimes I think that as soon as you mention the word “wedding”, retailers take it as a licence to hike up the price. Monsoon’s weddings selection is fab, though, as are a lot of the other high street stores 🙂
