An Easter favour for an Easter wedding?

By admin on February 2nd, 2007 9 comments

Creme20egg20150 As we’re getting married at Easter, we had the thought that it might be nice to have Easter-themed favours. Now, to be perfectly honest, I’m still not completely sold on the idea of even having favours, but I am scarily addicted to Cadbury’s Creme Eggs, so I thought one idea might be to give each guest a chocolate egg – either on their place settings, or in a bowl in the centre of each table. Cheap, simple, and also: tasty – or so I thought.

Then I thought again. Remember Anthea Turner and Grant Bovey’s wedding? The one which was sponsored by a chocolate bar company? Might my wedding look end up looking like that if I go down the "chocolate bars as favours" route? I’m still not sure. What do you think?

  • I think it’s a great idea!

How about, to make it look less Anthea, you give everyone a Creme Egg, but also put bowls of mini eggs on the tables, making it more of a non-sponsored chocolate thing. Alternatively, you could have them scattered on the table like some people do with those glazed almonds?

just don’t get any photos of you and your new husband chomping on creme eggs and you should be OK! I think it’s a great idea for a cheap and cheerful favour.

I think as long as you’ve not sold your wedding to OK it’s a cool idea. Creme eggs….yum! We are having little rolls of love heart sweets with personalised wrappers…v cheesy but I couldn’t resist!

i personally cant stand creme eggs, and know quite a few people who wouldnt eat one. you might end up with half of them left over, or several half eaten eggs in tissues…

if i had to pic an egg, it would be a kinder egg. i imagine it would be like christmas crackers with the naff toys.

feel free to steal my idea if you like =P

I love the idea! And if you have some left over, all the better! I have to respectfully disagree with the kinder egg suggestion; I think the chocolate for the kinder egg generally tastes weird.

  • Creme Eggs it is, then! On the Cadbury/Kinder debate… I think the problem with using food as favours is going to be that no matter what we choose, there will be someone who doesn’t like it… I might try and minimise that, though, by using Kate’s suggestion of maybe having some mini eggs too. Thanks, everyone!

  • Send all the leftover eggs to me – I’ll eat them!

I think it’s a cool idea especially for an easter wedding. You can get mars and galaxy eggs too if you want to vary it a little bit. Bet you get some funny looks in Tescos with a trolley full of eggs!

i personally love the idea of creme eggs, but alot of people don’t like them, so maybe you could put bowls of (unwrapped, so you dont have to worry about coordinatingthe wrapping, lol) on each table, or at different spots down the table & let people take them as they want them.

I’m getting married on 22nd March -Easter Saturday. We’re doing Easter egg favours-handpainted egg cups in green and yellow (the colours featured at the wedding)with guest’s names written on. The easter eggs will be assorted as there are so many you can buy now. My fav is Creme Eggs but we will supply other ones aswell.
