There is something so classic, so lovely, about this dress that I couldn’t fail but include it as one of the best dresses of our past year. It’s big without being princessy, detailed but without being overdone and absolutely timeless.
I can imagine it on a bride from the 40’s just as easily as I can imagine it worn by a modern woman. Equally, couldn’t you just envisage it on the red carpet or at a grand ball?
And this is a prime example of how it could have all gone so horribly wrong. It’s so shiny in a nasty way with embroidery and pleats and sheer fabric, puff sleeves, too tight bodice. Bad to the core!
