When you’re stuck for ideas, go for an oldy but a goody, this one may be mushy but there’s no denying it’s a darn good tune. Let’s Stay Together by Al Green was written in 1972 for his album of the same name, and later reappeared on the Pulp Fiction film soundtrack. Beware of poor imitations, many have covered it: Michael Bolton, Boyz II Men… but Al imbues it with genuine tenderness and insistence, and he is actually a Reverend so you have to believe what he says, or else. Make sure you don’t use the Tina Turner version, unless you want to see your Mum do herself a mischief on the dance floor.
