According to The Telegraph, the trousseau is back in fashion. The trousseau used to be a chest of items a newly wed woman would take with her to her new home. The Victorians were particularly keen on the trend which saw them packing off their brides with linens, china and clothing and would comprise everything the woman owned.
These days, however, the trousseau is back in a much more stylish way. Hollywood stars Eva Longoria and Katie Holmes both stocked up their trousseaus with lingerie at figleaves.com (Eva) and Madame V (Katie). And if you need some help packing yours, take a leaf out of Melanie Knauss’ book and take the Vogue editors to Paris for a shopping spree (I’m free anyway!).
If you’re wondering what to put in yours (and you don’t have to go for the 66 trunks that Wallis Simpson reportedly packed), the Telegraph suggests linens, silk underwear, top of the line toiletries and make-up, a going away outfit and of course, elegant luggage to put it all in.
