I imagine that most of you who are getting married in the UK this ‘summer’ are watching the weather reports avidly, hoping for the sunshine to peek through. I’m hoping we will have an Indian summer, stretching into September and October, but whether or not the sun comes out, there is always one way to inject some warmth and colour into your wedding, with your flowers.
The Flowers and Plants Association have identified the ‘Garden of Delight’ as the trend for the season, and I have to say I love it. Shown here is the Aruba bouquet, containing the fantastic birds of paradise, also gloriosa, phlox, vanda orchids, gerbera, aconitum and budgie! The exciting mixture of bold and dark colours not to mention striking forms would make a glorious injection of drama on your bridal white backdrop. If this is a bit much, check out the muted pinks of the Sumatra bouquet, which is more understated, but still exciting and original.
This website is great, as well as the trends it recommends, it does have a section specifically for weddings, helping you with what’s in season and suggesting recommended retailers and designers for where to buy. It gives clear information and pictures on flowers and plants for the least green fingered of us, including how long you can expect them to last, which is imperative for your logistics around the big day!
