Mother of the Bride: Pick of the High Street handbags

Every mother I’ve ever known swears by her handbag. Remember how you were sworn against rummaging as a child? That’s because more often than not there’s a whole host of emergency supplies within. Never is this trusty accessory more useful, or more tricky to get right than on a wedding day. Finding the room for the essentials and making sure it looks good is never easy. That’s why I’ve picked my favourite bags for mums and wedding guests for the big day.

First (pictured top left) is the Operatic Evening Bag from Accessorize at Monsoon. This gorgeous little bag is just big enough to fit in all the mascara touch ups, tissues and extra pennies a mum could need. It’s also very gorgeous, a real feature accessory that will get more than a few compliments.

Second is the Black and Lace bag from Debenhams (bottom right). This bag is a more traditional design that’s easy to wear as an accessory without being dull by any means. Perfect as an accessory for a brightly coloured dress, or something with a few colours that makes accessorising a task in itself.

Third on the list is this gorgeous little flower clutch, also from Debenhams (bottom left). Like the first bag this is a real eye catcher, and it’s got space while staying small and delicate enough to carry off a floral print.

Last on the list is a bigger option, for mums who can’t bear to leave anything behind in case of emergencies. This jewelled bag from Next is a perfect option for bigger bags. It’s still most certainly got glamour, and is dressy enough to carry off with your day outfit. You can have peace of mind that you’ve come prepared and looking fab.
