Yay or Nay Wednesday

I spotted this unusual dress whilst scouting for new designers to show off in our daily frock. What caught my eye, as you’ve probably guessed, is the unusual prints around the hem that feature shots of other weddings. I’m guessing the pics are probably the bride’s parents and so on. Ignore that the dress is clearly a work in progress and think about the idea. Do you like the idea of something so personal or woud you rather remember your family in other way like wearing a piece of their jewellery? Yay or nay to the photo printed dress and why?

Last week I asked you about a creamy gold dress with a ruched skirt and you all said yay. Meg gets the virtual points this week for spotting that it is a Disney ‘Belle’ dress – well done!

It’s a very interesting concept, but I don’t think it really works. The rectangular shapes of the photos are too harsh, and the shapes and sizes of them are too irregular. Maybe if the edges were softened and had some sort of pattern around them, to turn them into a decorative border along the hem, and if the photos were made the same shape and size.. and a little smaller.. then it might work.
As it is, it looks a bit like one of those cheap print-your-own-design on a t-shirt things.

I think Jo summed it up well. It is an interesting and unique idea. I once saw a dress in a magazine with a pale kind of watercolour of an Italian city across the whole thing. Strange idea but if you squint your eyes just right, it just, might, possibly, work.
I’m afraid it’s a nay from me. Just a tad too left of centre for my liking.

This is a really great idea! I love it as a way to honor the past and the people who got us to this moment. I’m not positive that I’d wear it as a wedding dress, but I’d give it a lot of consideration. I like the idea in other forms of clothing as well. On an overcoat, or other personal clothing. I’ve seen handbags with photos, which I’m not necessarily crazy about, but this is diffeent. Very unique. I like it. 🙂

I think the idea i a great Work in progress. taken the italian scenery idea and softening it to a barely there look and turning it into as was earlier stated a border.. Maybe using a blue tone… to get that something blue and old all worked in together…Would make this dress a custom order craze..even working the concepts into bridesmaids wear.. might be a good line to think along… Honestly though as the dress above stands no i wouldnt wear it.. with alot of work yes i definently would.. It especially nice as a way to honour loved ones who cant be there or that day…
