The trend for multi-tiered cakes or the alternative cupcake tower may not be abating but you’ll be hard pressed to find a cake maker who can so successfully combine the two. You can be sure these fabulous cakes by Carolyn Mackenzie will whet the appetites of more than a few couples out there though. Flavours range from traditional sponge or fruit to chocolate with espresso, vanilla or lavender or even spicy carrot.

Pictured left is a top tier with sugar pansies (£70) and pansie cupcakes from £4.50 each. Right, a two tier rose cake is decorated with cupcakes (£300) with matching fairycakes available to decorate the base.
