More and more friends of mine are plumping for charitable donations instead of gift lists, probably because the friends of mine who’ve got married recently have been together for years and already have everything they need (except, perhaps, a bride and groom dustpan!).
The I Do Foundation was set up for this very reason. It links engaged couples with a host of charitable giving options at their wedding. But don’t worry, you don’t need to give up all the pressies altogether – one of the options is to set up a registry with the foundation’s partner stores and up to 8% of gift purchases will be donated to your favorite charity. So you get the gifts and you get to feel charitable too!
