During our lifetime we’ll go to far more weddings as a guest than as a bride or groom (unless you’re Liz Taylor) so we’ve decided to take a look at the tricky world of dressing for weddings. It’s easier to decide what to wear if you’ve been given a dress code (brides – take note!) so in this new series, we’re going to take a look at different outfits for different occasions, kicking off with an outfit I actually wore to a recent wedding.
Like many young women, I don’t have a huge disposable budget to spend on one off events so I was keen to find a swish new dress for a smart reception in the city which I could use again. As it was an evening do, black was perfect but I made sure it had a little sparkle by picking out this fitted satin dress with a jewelled trim from Oli (or Grattan £65) which fell right on to the knee – perfect for my 5 feet 3″ height. At £59 it didn’t break the budget either and I’ll certainly wear it again to a cocktail party or Christmas do.
For shoes, I wanted something fashionable and dressy so went for a pair of peep toes with a killer heel for £60 from Nine West at John Lewis but I can’t find a picture of them anywhere so do use your imaginations or feel free to make suggestions!
