Being practically a child bride, I didn’t ask so many questions before getting married (“Will you marry me?” was the only question I was interested in), but if you’re older and wiser than I was (and I really hope you are), check out Oprah Winfrey’s twenty questions.
From “Question #1: What percentage of our income are we prepared to spend to purchase and maintain our home on a monthly or annual basis?” and “Question #7: If one of us doesn’t want to work, under what circumstances, if any, would that be okay?” to “Question #11: Do we eat meals together? Which ones? Who is responsible for the food shopping? Who prepares the meals? Who cleans up afterward?” and “Question #15: Will we have children? If so, when? How many? How important is having children to each of us?” no stone will remain unturned.
You will probably no longer be speaking to each other either, but it’s best to know in advance, eh?
