Informal, shorter length gowns this year range from minis to calf-length but it’s the knee-length numbers that are still the most flattering. Candy Anthony’s retro look, left, is perfection wih a full skirt, button-down front, elbow length sleeves and a rosebud on the collar. Right, Anne Barge updates the strapless lace in shades of pearl and silver with a metallic ribbon.

Left, texture is key to this dress by Melissa Sweet with a scrunchy 3D effect giving the gown volume but the fitted waist ensuring it is still flattering. Priscilla of Boston, gave horizontal stripes a glam look with this satin-belted gown and full, fluted skirt.
