Mind-blowing cakes from SugarVeil

By admin on June 26th, 2008 1 comment

fc1.jpgI’ve just spent the last ten minutes perusing SugarVeil’s site with my mouth hanging open. Not because the cakes look so delicious (although they do), but because they’re just amazing.

Take this cake, for instance, it’s called “Floating Cake” – can you see why? Yes, it’s floating. No, I have no idea how. But isn’t it amazing? You’ll find that particular cake (along with the phenomenal Pagoda Cake) in the Avant Garde section of the site. If you click on the Wedding Cakes section you will see cakes, but you’ll be way more interested in the wedding dresses made of icing. Phenomenal.

The floating cake is done by using a stand and the sugarveil scarf is draped over the stand and the cake is placed on the second tier — notice the drape is under the cake, covering the stand and drapes down and covers the first layer also. Quite a beautiful cake and that technique could be used in many ways.
