Newlyweds Stefanie Schmiedel and Robert Gray became the epitome of London cool when they caught the tube to their wedding this weekend. Travelling from Dollis Hill to Baker Street Tube station on Saturday 12th July, the couple then walked to their ceremony at the registry office in Marylebone.
‘It is important for both of us to have an environmentally friendly wedding,” said Stephanie, adding, ”I have been encouraging my relatives to travel over from Germany by Eurostar or by coach, as opposed to flying the short distance.’
The couple, who are both members of Brent Friends of the Earth also made sure there were many other green aspects of their wedding includeing the bride’s dress, which is made from dyable material and reusable; invitations, menus and the order of ceremony, which are homemade using recycled paper; the catering at the reception which will use local produce; the organic wedding cake; the honeymoon trip round Europe by train, and the second-hand engagement ring.
