BBC News report today that wedding gift list firm Wrapit are “experiencing financial difficulties and is in talks with banks and advisers to avoid going into administration.” A spokeswoman has advised couples and their guess to check the website for official updates. Wrapit currently state on their website, “…we have encountered a financial difficulty due to the fact that our bankers HSBC have held £1m of our money which would otherwise have been devoted to fulfilling our orders. We are working with our advisers, KPMG to resolve this situation over the next few days and will make further announcements in due course.”
They also suggest, “If you would like to advise your guests not to make any further purchases from your list, please alter your welcome message (or ‘message to guests’) on your Wrapit homepage to that effect.”
The company handles 2500-3500 gift registries every year with gifts compiled through the site and delivered by Wrapit. However, some couples have told the BBC that their presents still haven’t been delivered long after the registries have closed and have concerns about the firm’s financial difficulties.
