The second weekend in August is apparently the favourite weekend in which to tie the knot in the UK according to Ecclesiastical Insurance. However, many couples are opting to wed this Friday rather than wait for the Saturday rush. In fact, Friday weddings have increased by 5% over the past years meaning around 12,000 couples prefer Fridays.
January remains as the least popular month whilst Tuesdays are the least popular day.
“With a recession looming finances will be stretched, so couples will be looking for any way to save a little money. Holding your wedding on a Friday doesn’t make much of a difference to guests, extends the weekend’s celebrations and can cut the budget substantially as well,” says Wedding insurance manager Darren Mabley-Jones.
