More than 1,000 people in Japan have signed an online petition to present to the government to establish a law permitting marriage to comic characters. No, I’m not kidding. I’ve no idea how that would work, but it’s an interesting idea.
Manga, anime and virtual reality games have become increasingly popular in Japan, with fictitious characters frequently elevated to celebrity status. Even so, marrying one seems like a step too far (and too pointless). Although, if I had to, I think I could make Joe Morelli – from Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books – very happy.
