The 1950s were all about glamour, so it’s no wonder the decade produced some really stunning bridal fashion. It’s getting harder to source genuine vintage from the period now, but if you’re determined to go ’50s, looking to US sellers is often your best bet, since collectors there have access to a larger pool of ‘dead stock’; products that have never been worn.

This ivory dress is in flawless condition and takes me right back to the age of the silver screen. It’s composed of no less than five layers of skirting, plus four of tulle, so would be a perfect choice for bombshell brides. Current bid at time of writing is $152.50 (approximately £98.66)
