Video games: a fun reception idea for geeks!

arcade_game.jpgLast weekend, I was lucky enough to be a guest at a fabulous wedding held by two dear friends who will now be enjoying a well-earned rest in sunnier climes. While much could be written about their big day, there was one small detail that really appealed to me: they’d brought in half a dozen arcade games machines and loaded them up with enough cash to see that the guests (young and old alike) could have fun driving, skiing and shooting their way through the reception.

So how can you hire arcade games machines for your wedding?

Hiring a games console for the night is not especially cheap – it will set you back around £300 to £500 to hire the machine for the evening. But this will give you and your guests free access to your chosen games all night, which serves as a great social mixer and works particularly well if you’re planning on having a lot of children and teenages in attendance. A cheaper solution may be to hire a Wii (or bring/buy your own – you might need it on the honeymoon!) or similarly ‘social’ games console and rig it up to a big TV.

The Events House rents out some of the most popular games, including a ski simulator, the Sega rally race simulator, giant Scalextric and dance games. Contact them for a quote and information on other fun ideas for kids and big kids on your big day.
