Astonishing news yesterday as it was revealed that the horrible see-through dress that first attracted Prince William to Catherine Middleton has been auctioned off for £65,000 plus and additional £13,000 in buyer’s fees.
The dress that apparently only cost £30 to make – it looks it – was worn by the royal bride-to-be at a charity fashion show held at St Andrews University in 2002.
We’re not so secretly hoping it was Prince William who bought the piece of fabric so that it will never be seen again… Unfortunately the money isn’t going to charity; dress maker Charlotte Todd has said her and her husband will most likely put the money towards purchasing a home.
But if this fairly non-existent dress is going for this staggering amount of money simply because Britain’s royal bride wore it for a few seconds almost ten years ago, think about how much her 19 April wedding dress will be worth!
We’re hoping Kate decides to action off her wedding dress in aid of charity, just like her and Prince William have done with their wedding gift list.
