The return of the Groom’s cake

Prince William famously had a McVitie’s chocolate biscuit cake made for his wedding to Kate, now the Duchess of Cambridge, while Kate had more control over the slightly larger, more traditional fruitcake wedding cake. Wills’ cake was made from an old Royal Family recipe and we were happy to see him make sure it was present during his special day. Usually it’s the bride who gets final say in everything, including which cake to have.

“Groom’s cakes are something that has been popular in the US for many years but has only recently taken off over here. It is an excellent way to showcase the fun side of a couple, solve the dilemma of traditional vs. quirky wedding cakes and gives the groom an opportunity to have some control over the cake planning” says Beth, owner of Cakes by Beth.

Has your other half requested a groom’s cake for your wedding? We’d love to see photos!
