We can hear hearts breaking already – even before Jersey born British actor Henry Cavill hits the big screen as the new Superman (due out next year).

The Tudors actor – who turns 28 today! – has proposed to his girlfriend and possible London Olympics athlete  Ellen Whitaker while on holiday in Hollywood. And she had no hesitation saying yes. Like anyone would really, just look at the man – swoon!

According to the Belfast Telegraph, Ellen said: “I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”

The new man of steel is also reported to have called her father to ask for Ellen’s hand in marriage before he popped the question. What a romantic soul.
