Wouldn’t you like to be a princess with the best British – and international – designers on speed dial? The new royal, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, or Kate as we like to call her, have just that. Kate bonded with Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton ahead of her April wedding, at which she wore a stunning wedding dress – and evening gown! – that drew similarities to the one of Grace Kelly and which firmly put her in the fashion spotlight as a star in the making.
After Kate and Prince William’s first official royal engagement, the couple flew to Los Angeles to attend BAFTA’s black tie dinner in tinseltown last night. And as this certainly needs a bit of dazzle and glamour, we were not surprised to learn that the rising icon had once more enlisted the talent of Burton.
Kate looked every part the princess she now is in a stunning pale lavender gown which fits her new sartorial image perfectly: demure yet enchanting.
The 29-year-old was a beautiful vision in a high-neckline Grecian inspired cocktail dress, which was teamed with a sparkling silver belt for added drama. The look was completed with a clutch bag and strappy silver sandals from Jimmy Choo. Kudos for flying the flag for British design Kate!
We love the style choices Kate has made so far in her new royal career and won’t be surprised if brides across the country will look to her for inspiration for their wedding day.
