Maybe it was a case of last minute nerves, but it seems that Prince Albert of Monaco’s bride-to-be Charlene Wittstock really was trying to get the hell out of the country upon finding out that her soon to be husband had fathered a third child out of wedlock.
Apparently the 33 year old former Olympic swimmer was just about to board a plane to her native South Africa before having her passport taken from her – upon what grounds I’m not entirely sure. Initially, legal action was taken against the French magazine which broke the story about the ‘love child’ but this has now been dropped. It appears that the Prince is desperate for the wedding to go ahead because only a legitimate heir can rule the tiny Mediterranean tax haven.
Yesterday celebrations got underway with an Eagles concert at Stade Louis II. Tellingly, most of the pictures above seem to indicate that Prince Albert of Monaco – twenty years her senior – isn’t now letting Charlene out of his sight. But I wouldn’t give the marriage more than a year given his track record and her clear unhappiness with the situation.
