cocktail.jpgWant a hen night with a difference? Like designer chic, shopping and cocktails? Then head down to Harvey Nichols.

The upper class designer store in Knightsbridge has launched a cocktail masterclass at its new look Fifth Floor Champagne bar where mixologist Stani Visciano will guide you through the classic cocktail combinations, before giving you free reign of the bar so you can try out what you've learnt.

But make sure you've paid attention as you'll then have to try your own mixes over lunch.

If you're not too tipsy you can then hit the floors of the store to do some pre wedding or celebratory shopping. Bliss.

To book your places, which start from £55 per person, visit the Harvey Nichols website now.

40 winks.jpgIf you've always wanted to be a vintage starlet then we think we might have the perfect idea for your hen night.

Boutique hotel 40 Winks has launched Tart, a new event, which will make you feel like a vintage starlet.

Not only do you get sandwiches, yummy cakes and chocolates, but you'll also be made-up and given advice by vintage beauty experts Lipstick and Curls and make-up artist to the stars, Bella Cruikshank.

You can try one or two (if you're feeling brave) of the hotel's cocktails or a glass of bubbly and slip on a 50s evening gown from a selection from Vogue favourites, vintage secret with expert style advice provided by Naomi and Fleur.

'Tart' will also play host to some of London's brightest and coolest young designers like award winning milliner Katherine Elizabeth and the likes of Minna, whose creations incorporate lace, brooches and buttons found at antique markets. Expect jewels, lingerie and lots of lovely shoes, which you can buy as a reminder of the day.

And if this all this proves a little too taxing, relax with a massage from the well trained hands of Xhilarate, or try a refreshing fruit or herbal tea from the new Lipton Infusions collection.

The event costs £60 per person and will run on Saturday 14 November and Saturday 12 December. But don't worry if you're not getting married until next year as this event will also take place monthly throughout 2010.

Email reservations@40winks.org or call 020 7790 0259 to bag your place now.

Malvern spa.jpgBrides that don't have a sweet tooth and want to give chocolate a skip will love these new packages from Malvern Spa.

The venue, located at the foot of the picturesque Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, is offering a Sparkle Day package.

Throughout November and December, brides and their friends can use all the spa's facilities and have lunch in the bistro before being pampered with a ESPA Skin hydrator facial, a colour change manicure and a mini pedicure.

Each guest will also get a £5 voucher redeemable against Jessica retail products so you can take that gorgeous new polish home with you (or pass it on to us).

Prices start at £110.00 per person. Call the spa on 01684 898290, or visit the website for more details and to book.

Landmark_Hotel_--_Entrance.JPGYesterday we bought you saucy and today we're bringing you a sweet hen alternative.

The Landmark London hotel has decided to help brides to pile on the calories (for the record we think this is worth it) and introduced a chocolate themed afternoon tea.

The chocolate treats are served between 3pm and 6pm in the eight-storey, glass-roofed central atrium of the Winter Garden restaurant where you'll also be treated to sweet live music from a pianist or harpist and surrounded in exotic palm trees.

And if this isn't enough wait until you hear about the menu, which includes marble cupcakes, white chocolate and mint macaroons, chocolate choux buns, baked white chocolate cheesecake, and some chocolate nibbles too.

We think this day out is a bargain for £35 per person. Or £40 for brides that want a glass of Taittinger Champagne.

Visit the Landmark London Hotel website for more information and to book.

Bridal Lin.jpgIf you want a hen party with a bit of sauce, then head down to the Met Bar.

The bar has teamed up with seductive lingerie brand, the Modern Courtesan to create the perfect sassy afternoon date; 'Seduction Classes' served with a delectable slice of cake on the side.

The afternoon includes a welcome Modern Courtesan cocktail, an aphrodisiac-inspired Afternoon De-Light menu and titillating entertainment.

Jo King, founder of the London School of Striptease will be conducting an exclusive workshop entitled 'The Art of Striptease' and author and presenter Bethanie Lunn will also be teaching you how to walk in high heels with real sex appeal.

As a finale to the class, all guests are invited to visit the 'Seduction Boudoir', offering an exclusive opportunity to acquire weapons of mass seduction to take home.

Tickets are priced at £50.00 per person and must be purchased in advance. But there is a catch. You'll have to decide to have a last minute celebration, the event takes place on Saturday 17 October between 3pm to 5pm. Sorry brides to be, but we like to keep you on your toes.

cocktail_girls.jpgIf you want a hen party with a difference and have always wanted to learn how to mix your favourite cocktails from the classic Sex and the City Cosmopolitan to the original Mojito with a twist - now is your chance.

The Snug Bars has launched cocktail classes to teach you how to shake and make some classic drinks.

You'll get an introduction to the history of cocktails before learning how to mix and free pour (that's pouring spirits without using measures). You'll also be taught how to make four cocktails of your choice from The Snug's cocktail menu.

To ensure you're not drinking on a full stomach your group will also get a Sharing Platter to eat while you shake your drinks.

The Snug cocktail classes are £30 per person and are available at both the East Road and Lensfield Road bars.

Alternative hen nights: The tea party

mand.jpgIf you're planning a hen daytime event and have decided to invite everyone from your wild best friend to meek Aunt Mabel then you'll know how hard it is to please everyone.

Well we've come up with a solution that may just help.

Fashionable fragrance company Jo Malone and The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel have teamed up to offer hens across London, or anyone that wants to travel to the capital, an afternoon of tea, cakes and food to tickle everyone's taste buds.

The event, which is in celebration of Jo Malone's new fragrance, Vanilla & Anise Cologne, has had its menu designed by CChef Patissier Graham Hornigold, who has created an exclusive menu in, well you guessed it, vanilla.

Tastebud tastic treats include Honey and Vanilla Glazed Madeleines, Clementine and Vanilla Fairy Cakes (sprinkled in girly glitter) and Black Fig with Wildflower Honey and Mascarpone Mousse.

There is also something for those who prefer their savory to their sweet including sandwiches, scones and your tea of choice.

Guests also get mini-size Jo Malone goodies: a Vanilla & Anise Cologne and a Grapefruit shower gel, as well as a voucher for an in-store hand and arm massage all from just £32 per person.

And if this doesn't impress your wild friends then you can always leave the aunts, mum and mum in law to continue the day while you head out to London's clubs to enjoy the evening.

A hen night has grown from a quiet night in, to a full on girls night out party, which can last just the eve, if it's dinner and a club, or the whole week if you decide to grab the girls and head abroad.

Then there are other brides who like to take it that little bit more easy choosing a relaxing spa break in the lead up to their wedding.

However, there are always some that may want to go that little bit further, looking for something that little bit more different. In this new series we look at alternative hen nights, starting with festivals.

Read on after the jump.
