beautiful-nails1.jpgEvery bride wants perfect nails on their wedding day. After all, guests will be looking at these when they ask to look at, and coo over your gorgeous wedding and engagement (if you choose to wear it) ring.

With the stress leading up to the big day it's sometimes hard to factor in when you will have time to get your manicure sorted out, but fear not Confetti has come to the rescue.

The one stop wedding shop has come up with a great list of hints and tips to ensure your nails are strong and don't chip, to ensure gorgeous nails to show off that all important sparkler on your special day.

It advises brides who wish to show off their natural nails to by trying out a DIY treatment of gently warming some almond oil, and soaking your fingertips in it for 10 minutes. Push the cuticles back with a cotton bud, never clip them. For added protection, wear rubber gloves when gardening, doing housework, decorating and washing-up.

It also advises brides to clip their nails every six weeks as this encourages them to grow. Have your nails professionally manicured the day before your big day, including your toes.

If you're worried about chipping the polish or breaking a nail, leave your manicure until as late as possible and keep your hands and feet above the water line if you have a bath that night.

If you're painting your own digits use 10 to twelve strokes to cover the nail -- most people think they can get away with three. Remember, pale colours show chips and smudges less than vibrant hues. For the natural look of a French manicure, don't use bright white on the tips, it'll look fake. Go for a slightly off-white shade such as Revlon's White on White.

Let's face it, weddings can be an emotional time for us.

All that love, and those tear jerking vows have me bawling like a baby. And I'm sure on your wedding day, it's so much worse.

Add to that, the heat, or the rain, depending when you're getting married and you'd have to be caked in layers of make up for your tears, rain drops and melted make up not to show.

We have a look at the best water and heat proof make up out there to keep you looking as fresh as a daisy on your big day.

Get arty nails for your wedding day

Bride_sparklyNails.JPGIf you're like me and bite or break your nails then you'll know how hard it is to keep them looking nice.

It's not so bad for everyday business, especially now we can start to hide behind gloves, but brides beware, nearly everyone will be looking at your fingers on the big day, in particular the one housing your wedding ring.

Most brides get around this by desperately drinking lots of calcium to make their nails grow (well that's something my mum always advises) and others opt to fake it with silks and acrylics opting for a traditional French manicure.

However we have found something that may spice these up a little bit more, without making them look over the top.

Sparkly Nails
has come up with some cute flowers, butterflies and rhinestones that can be glued to a natural or fake gel nail. They can also be painted by brush for those of us who have a steady hand, or patient and creative friend.

The company also stocks a big range of nail art supplies including foils, striping tapes, nail glitters and stickers.

Perfect for covering up those nails.

Add some sweetness to your wedding day

Choc-Lips.JPGWith Chocolate Week fast approaching you can add a little bit of sweetness to your wedding day with these guilt free chocolate products.

Brides that want to smell good enough to eat can start their chocolate experience with an all over, delight with the Philip B Chocolate Milk Body Wash, which is perfect for those whose grooms have a little bit of a chocolate fetish.

However if you're worried about being mistaken for the chocolate fountain then you can opt for something that little bit more discreet. We love this Bare Escentuals lip gloss in yummy Chocolate Soufflé (£11.25), which gives a subtle chocolate colour to any bride.

Get flawless, glowing skin on your wedding day

image1xl.jpgIf you want glowing and flawless skin on your wedding day then we have found something that may help.

Makeup brand Korres has launched what it claims is the first ever certified organic, silicone free make-up primer. It is said to refine skin texture by reducing redness and uneven or dull skin tones.

It also creates a non-oily, silky film, acting as a barrier between skin and make-up, creating long-lasting radiant skin, which is perfect for brides who are worried about their makeup melting away in the heat.

It costs £19.50 and you can get your hands on it at Asos.

Help with DIY wedding hair

CUTEX-IMAGE2.jpgWe have spoken in the past about DIY hair on your wedding day, and even given you some tips.

If you have decided to do your own hair on your wedding day (and why not?) firstly we'd like to say how impressed we are with you, and secondly we thought we'd tell you about this new range from Wahl.

The hair company has come up with two new products designed to make hairstyles easier to create. We love its Cutek+ hair straighter with ceramic plates.

The straighter has a 2.8m, which gives you the freedom to move around the room or to the nearest table where your champagne glass should be perched. It also has a slim in design so you can reach your roots easily.

If you want to steer away from poker straight hair then you could use the curling tongs, which come in five different sizes, instead to create big bouncy curls for your big day. We love the £5.99 starting price.

Get fruity on your wedding day

NEW CHERRY LIPGLOSS 6If you and your groom want to get fruity on your wedding day (think the you may kiss the bride scenario) this new range of lip glosses may be right up your, er aisle?

Korres new range of cherry flavoured lip glosses are made from, cherry and Jojoba oils and come in ten colours, including light pink, beige pink, golden brown, red, nude and coral, which we think are perfect for a wedding.

You may however want to save the natural purple, fuchsia and orange shades until the honeymoon. They cost £11.

Clinique
Since we're on a bit of a makeup roll we thought we'd also tell you about Clinique's new foundation powder for brides that don't want to look too caked in make up on their big day will love this new product by Clinique.

The makeup and skincare company has created what it calls a "next generation" of loose powder with foundation coverage.

Apparently, the Superbalanced Powder Makeup SPF 15 Mineral Rich Formula doesn't require all the work and buffing other mineral makeup brands do to achieve a smooth, flawless application. Basically you use a brush and slap it on.

It's also said to require less touch-ups throughout the day as it sweat and humidity-resistant, hmm sounds a little bit too much like miracle makeup.

New Superbalanced Powder Makeup SPF 15 Mineral Rich Formula will be available from 1 September, from stores including John Lewis and Boots, just in time for the Indian summer we hope.

Bring the spa to yor home

Beauty4.jpgIf you haven't got time to get to a pre wedding day spa with your friends then we have found something that may help.

Blossom and Jasmine is a beauty service that comes to your home, office or hotel room, wherever in the country you are.

Like a spa they offer every treatment you can think of including eyebrow threading, sports massage - pedicures and anti-ageing facials (one for the mother in law perhaps?).

There's also a personal shopper service, which is perfect for last minute honeymoon clothing ideas and for pregnant brides a range of beauty services such as reflexology.

However, understandably they can't offer the full spa experience, think swimming pools and Jacuzzi's, unless you of course have one at home.

hair-envy.jpgYes, I'm still all excited about blow-drying at the moment and am haven't yet got bored of raving abuot how glam it can make you look for those special times when you know that you'll be the centre of attention and that cameras are going to be involved.

Too bad if you don't have a hairdryer (and I'm still on the hunt for a decent one) so I was very pleased to see that several stores are slashing the prices on hair and beauty gadgets at the moment, meaning you can get your hands on a decent, designer-name 'blower' at a very good price. Most excitingly, there's a Vidal Sassoon model here reduced to just £17.49 and a fabulous offer on a Remington hairdryer for just a tenner, almost a third of its original cost! Bless those struggling old-fashioned department stores...

When you're en route to the ceremony, the last thing you want is the worry of tacky nail polish dripping on to your dress or getting smudged as you scurry into your car. We all know that no method of drying nails other than leaving them for ages and ages will ever work, so how else can you get glossy, natural nails that'll dry fast then last and last?

incoco.jpgIncoco have an answer that's bone dry from the moment you put it on. Their nail appliqué kits are made from nail polish that's already set, but that can be adhered to your fingernails for a perfect fit. Unlike false nails, the appliqué cannot detach, as once they're on your fingers they're identical to polish that has been left to dry on your hands. But they take less than ten minutes to put on, and last for longer than painted nails.

When I tried the gorgeous 'red velvet' shade, my nails stayed immaculate for over a week before any chips appeared. If you've not tried it yet, you really need to get over the image you'll have in your head of wearing stickers on your nails - the result is actually much closer to a professional manicure (and much better than the last one I had!) Incoco appliqué can be applied anywhere (including a moving taxi, I'm told, so you could - in theory - put it on en route to the your venue!) It's available from Boots and costs just £5.99

bridal-hair.jpgHowever gorgeous your dress may be, your wedding 'do' will ultimately make or break your look. But what if you don't want to splash out on an expensive hair makeover prior to the event? I've found that (much to my surprise) the key to looking your best could be a good old-fashioned blow dry, and here's why...

Blow drying is enjoying something of a revival at the moment, providing a bouncy antidote to the bland and rather flat look created by the straightening irons we've all sworn by for the past decade. As a GHD devotee with an unruly wave, I was highly sceptical when I first heard this claim, but when I finally agreed to let a stylist near me with a hairdryer, I was delighted by the results. My hair was full of life and body, yet very much 'tamed', giving it a filmstar look that instantly said 'weddings!' to me. And once you've perfected this skill at home, you can have that glamour every day, for free.

Hordes of hens descend on Brighton every weekend for pre-wedding fun and frolics, and perhaps you'll soon be one of them! But when the party's over you need somewhere to chill out and freshen up - and unless you're very lucky with the weather, the beach just won't cut it...

thelaneshealthandbeauty2.jpgA far better option is to pitch up at one of the town's boutique salons and get some serious looking after; maybe with a glass of restorative pink bubbly in your hand. And having dropped in there on a flying visit last week where they did a great job on my much-neglected nails (see above!), I can to recommend The Lanes Health and Beauty as being very much up to the job.

The salon is tucked away in the North Laines, away from the bustle and madness of Brighton town centre, and it's the perfect place to chill out, making it very popular with hen parties, either for a pre-celebration girly getting ready session or as a haven for recovery after the main event...
