If the Big Brother house isn't providing you with enough in the way of rows, tantrums and 'real characters', then Living TV's Four Weddings; a sort of 'Come Dine With Me' for weddings, promises to adequately fill your appetite for drama.

In each episode, four couples who've left their shame at the door will invite their rivals to voice their opinions on choices they've made in their wedding planning, going head-to-head over dresses, cakes, venues and even the first dance. One will win a dream honeymoon, but we're guaranteed ten weeks of full-on wedding warfare on the way!

The bitch-fest begins on Monday at 9pm.

Maybe it's the credit crunch, maybe it's a desire not to look like something out of a catalogue on the happiest day of your life. Either way, I'm seeing a lot of wedding-related craft ideas pop up at the moment, so I was not at all surprised to hear about Wedding Papercrafts: a new book that's full of projects to make accessories that will help create a unique and wonderful day.

I've loved reading all the amazing blogs out there, not to mention discovering new bridal blogs and rediscovering old favourites. So I want to share them with you too! In no particular order, here's my favourites from 2008:

# From "I Will" to "I Do" - Anne Chertoff is a wedding expert and you'll find tips, news and her very worthy views on this easy to navigate blog.

# What Junebug Loves - With snaps of real weddings we can only dream of plus giveaways and a new Groombug section, I just adore this site.

# DIY Bride - Khris Cochrane is a true champion of DIY wedding projects that will give your wedding a unique touch. She also has a same-titled book out (I have it on my shelf) and there will be another book out in 2010.

# Manolo for the Brides - Always a favourite, there are fun features including Sunday Cation Madness, lots of useful tips and a smattering of real life weddings. There's a book too - iDo - Nothing But Net

# Wedded Bits - This Brides.com site is packed with daily news and product info for US brides.

# Rock 'n Roll Bride - This site is a mecca for gorgeous photography and inspiring real weddings.

# Brooklyn Bride - The design of this site really pops but it's the real wedding inspiration and modern twists that will grab you.

# Snippet and Ink - Brilliant mood boards are sure to spark some ideas plus check out the useful round-up of discounts and giveaways.

# Always a blogsmaid - Ideas and advice from an NY-based industry professional who will answer your questions too.

# FashionBride - Fashion is the name of the game here with lots of designer picks and great montages.

Here's one for our lovely US readers. Martha Stewart Weddings have unveiled 'Perfect Proposals' an online contest searching for the most inventive and creative wedding proposals. The magazine's editors will choose their favourite stories for a photo gallery online where their story will be accompanied by the couples' photo.

Winners will receive a six-day, five-night Disney's Fairy Tale Honeymoons vacation including a night at the Cinderella Castle Suite at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida plus round trip airfare for two, two six-day Magic Your Way tickets and a $1,000 gift card from Disney's Honeymoon Registry. A new series 'Four Weddings' is going into production for Living TV and they're on the search for brides-to-be who are getting married between January and June this year. Every episode one of the couples will win a honeymoon - which can still be taken at a later date if yours is already booked.

It's a real mind boggle knowing what is going on in the minds of other people. Take this Japanese man, Taichi Takashita, he must have been thinking about the idea of wanting to marry a cartoon character for a while before he began his online petition. Within a week he had gathered 1000 signatures and you just know more than one of them will be fighting it out over the character of their choice.

"I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world," he wrote. "However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?"

We don't know whether he's serious or not but I am perturbed that Superwoman or Mickey Mouse could be married off without their consent. Would you marry a fictional character if you could? [via Manolo for the Brides]

I must admit I'm a big fan of happy-go-lucky-chick-lit style films. There's enough murder and mayhem in the world without making it into entertainment too, right? So, I'm pretty keen on films that most likely have a happy ending. Anyway, Bride Wars, out next week, looks like it'll be good fun and I see the stars, Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, have snagged the Feb/March cover of Modern Bride magazine.

If you're bored of stuffing sugared almonds into circles of chiffon, spare a thought for the couples who painstakingly make a thousand paper cranes before their wedding. These gorgeous origami cranes are made from colourful printed paper and look amazing together and are said to bring luck so I'm all for that.

The couple, Kim and Brent, posted the pictures of various aspects of their DIY wedding and there are plenty of ideas to inspire you if you're going the DIY route. Congrats to the couple! [via Craftster]

As an avid reader of Offbeat Bride, I was delighted to see that another resource for those seeking a non-traditional wedding had popped into existence: Black Meringue.

Whether you're looking for advice on some killer heels you wouldn't find in John Lewis, tips for holding a Halloween wedding, some exceptionally sexy bridal underwear or or just a nice vintage hat, this magazine and website is a good starting point for planning your day to remember. There's also a well written 'pink weddings' section for same-sex couples. But it's the site's attitude that really gets my vote, with articles entitled 'Sod the Gym' and 'let's get kitsched!' - and reading the case studies of weird and wonderful weddings certainly warmed my heart.
