Breakthrough Pink Ribbon Pin Badge(2).JPGIt's often hard to know what gifts you need from your guests on your wedding day, especially if you and your partner have been living together for years and have the toaster, kettle, candles all sorted out.

Therefore why not think about making a gift to charity.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer has launched Wedding List Givingwith the support of wedding planner to the stars, Peregrine Armstrong-Jones.

The charity is asking brides and grooms-to-be to consider having a wedding list with a difference by asking guests to make a donation to the charity instead of giving presents.

The idea is one of the seasons' top wedding trends from Peregrine, the mastermind behind the wedding of David and Victoria Beckham, the civil ceremony of Sir Elton John and David Furnish as well as Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly's royal nuptials.

She has also kindly compiled five wedding tips for us to pass onto you.

Dave the Shoe guy wedding Manolos.jpg

I was chatting with Dave the Shoe Guy for a fashion story this week, and he told me an adorable story about how he proposed to his wife - and met Manolo Blahnik along the way - I just had to share here.

Dave and his wife-to-be met and started dating while working in the shoe department at Nordstrom. One Valentine's Day as he was getting ready to ask her to marry him, Manolo Blahnik, Dave's favorite shoe designer, came out with a sparkly silver sandal that was $2,000 with only 36 made in the entire world.

Emma Cake.JPGWith so many suppliers vying for your business and a plethora of packages and prices to wade through, I thought it was time we asked the experts for their top tips. Meet Emma Cake, wedding photographer and owner of Bournemouth-based Big Bouquet. Emma has kindly shared her insider knowledge with us so that you are armed with the right info to find your wedding photographer...

An off-key wedding singer will cringed at - but tolerated. Cold potatoes at your wedding breakfast and drunken Uncles may an annoyance at the time, but you'll soon forget all when you're sipping champagne and dipping your toes in a pool under perfect blue skies come your honeymoon. Your wedding photos, however, will be album-bound forever so you better be sure you're getting it right when it comes to hiring the right photographer for the job - no pressure.

With so many different packages, prices, styles and approaches how do you go about finding a photographer you can trust will do a good job on your day, and deliver the goods after your wedding's over?

Work through this tip list and you can bag yourself a great photographer and tick another task off the list within the space of two weeks:

1. Work out your budget
A lot of photographers like to act quite the car salesman, hoping to catch a romantic bride and groom hook, line and sinker. Before you search for a photographer work out how much you can afford and stick to this budget. If a photographer doesn't have clear pricing details available then make sure you get a costings summary sent over to you before you meet with them.

Here's a great interview with the lovely Craig from Harriet's Muse. Harriet's Muse specialises in corsets and couture gowns (popular with the likes of Kelly Osbourne), but thanks to popular demand, makes some beautiful bespoke bridal gowns as well. If you're looking for something a bit more unusual than the standard wedding frock, take a look at some of the dresses on offer.
