Shout for lulu

By admin on March 23rd, 2006

LuluguinessFinding this gorgeous Lulu Guiness bag was like a little gift from above and I’m more than ready to shout about its fabulousness. But enough with the daft Lulu references and on to the bag post haste.

The dainty ivory satin pouch bag is dripping in pearly beads and sequins. Golden metal bracelet handles make a fab feature. It’s pretty enough to accentuate a wedding dress yet unobtrusive enough not to detract attention from the dress. I’m sure bag lady’s will appreciate that there is also a black moleskin version. £250 from Handbags and Gladrags

Only princesses need apply

By admin on March 21st, 2006

SwanUnless you’re of the blue-blooded variety, the wedding day may be your only chance to wear a tiara. That is unless you become an eccentric in your later years and can swing wearing a crown on top of the obligatory old lady red hat.

The silver swan tiara on the left from Rosemarie McKenna is both delicate and tasteful. The handmade crown is adorned with crystals and silver beads and retails at £90/ $158 including postage.

For Him and him and her and her

Anyabagsmall [Laura] Just in case you’re getting married this year and don’t fit the traditional mould Pink Products has some fantastic advice for gay and lesbian couples tying the knot. If you haven’t quite got your head around civil partnerships it’s worth a look.

They also carry a great line of wedding essentials for everyone. I loved this great bag, for brides of every persuasion, which is perfect for carrying your lippy, tissues and a miniature of dutch courage. A steal at £57.

My one question? Can anyone explain the definition of a Gay wedding ring?

Nice day for a woof wedding

By admin on March 3rd, 2006

Puppygroom_1 It seems somewhat of a shame to leave our furry friends at home on the big day so why not dress them up and take them too? The handsome pup featured here is wearing a $79 tuxedo in stretch cotton. Lady dogs are offered a delightful white veil and dress. Both designs and many, many more can be found at Doggie Designer.

Or, you could take a leaf out of Pamela Anderson’s book and just marry your pups off to each other. Golden retriever Star and Chihuahua Luca had guests, a reception and gifts. They even had Ali G crash the event and tackle Pammy.

There is, indeed, nothing quite like a Hollywood wedding.

Winter wedding

By admin on February 27th, 2006

Bolerosatin1 There’s much to be said for a summer wedding. The roses are in full bloom, you don’t have to pick between freezing in your dress or wearing thermal pants and the guests chattering teeth don’t drown out the vows.

However, winter weddings are equally wondorous affairs, especially if you are lucky enough to get a flurry of snow for a picture perfect day. Not to mention the fact that if you are on a budget, the prices come down in the off season. And you don’t have to vie with every single other bride for the last summer date until 2008 for the venue of your choice.

Practically speaking though, unless you are lucky enough to be marrying somewhere warm you’ll probably need to cover up. A bolero like the one on the left will still show of your dress whilst keeping arms and shoulders warm. The Bridalwear Company satin bolero rolls in at £49.99 and is available from sizes UK8-36

Bag of tricks

By admin on February 24th, 2006

Bridalpurse_2How many women do you know who can leave the house without a bag? Exactly, so why should she do it on her wedding day? I mean, come on, people… there’s lipstick, mobile, tissues, breathmints, a handy snifter of whiskey and nowhere to store them.

Fortunately, those clever people across the pond Bridalpeople.com have come up with this nifty little bag. The white duchess satin reticule is exactly the right idea – it has just the right amount of sparkle with the embroidery and Swarovski crystals to put it on show but also can hang discreetly from your wrist. It even comes with a great emergency kit stuffed with nail polish, ibuprofen and bandages. What do they think you’ll be doing? $34.90
