Have a wonderful holidays dear brides-to-be. It’s been a fantastic year for weddings, we’re still looking at photos of Kate’s wedding to her prince. We’re off now to celebrate the holidays with our families and friends, eat lots of marzipan and attempt to not go online… too much…

Christmas and New Year’s is time when most of us think of family, friends and love – making it a magical time for proposals. If you find yourself one engagement ring and fiancé richer come 2012, first of all congratulations and second, we want to hear all about it! If you become engaged over the festive season and can’t wait to find that perfect dress, here are ten of our favourite wedding dresses for 2012.

Dates for your diary: London’s famous Bridal Designer Sale is back, 4 & 5 June 2011

Get your purses ready ladies, the Bridal Designer Sale is back on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June 2011. The venue this time around is The Lancaster Hotel London. Tickets for the event are free, but you need to log on to www.bridaldesignersale.com to register and select a preferred time.

This is your chance to get up to 70% off exquisite designer wedding dresses. We’ve been told there are over 1,000 gowns available from leading designers such as Amanda Wakeley, Amy Michelson, Atelier Aimée and Caroline Castigliano. We could continue but it would take some time…

Wedding planningWith 2010 soon being history, I’ve been filling my 2011 notebook with ideas for articles that might be of interest to you.

While counting down the days until the Royal Wedding and learning how Victoria’s Italian wedding planning is going, I thought it would be interesting to do a weekly series where we look at all the details that goes into planning a wedding – big or small – from start to finish.

So starting from the New Year, I will do my best to provide you with info and tips on every little aspect of planning a wedding. It will also hopefully work as a checklist for all new brides-to-be and future brides who check in with Bridalwave for the latest and greatest.

Bridalwave website gets a new look just in time for Valentine’s Day

We’re buzzing with excitement here at Bridalwave today, and it’s not just because we’ve got that Friday feeling.

From tomorrow morning we’ll be going live with a new Bridalwave redesign. The make-over means you’ll be able to read the articles you’ve in the past expressed an interest in, and it’ll also be more user friendly meaning you’ll be able to find and browse through wedding dress galleries to find that perfect frock.

And it’s all happened just in time for Valentine’s Day too. So if you have a feeling your other half will be popping that special question to you on Sunday, you’ll be able to check out the new features, after you’ve called your mum, aunt, best friend, local restaurant and favourite taxi driver to tell them the news that is.

The photographer has teamed up with designer jewellers EC One to offer bespoke, diamond encrusted initials that can be inset into the cover of your wedding album.

Each initial in the *luxe range is said to be hand crafted with ethical, conflict-free diamonds. They are set on solid 18 carat white gold letters and then mounted on the cover of the leather bound hard back albums. Each album is claimed to be individually designed by Jay Rowden, with each photograph mounted by hand in New Zealand.

We know it may not be to everyone’s taste but the blingtastic brides-to-be amongst us will love this.

Robbie Williams proposes to girlfriend Ayda Field

We think a big congratulations is in order for Robbie Williams who has now officially proposed to his girlfriend Ayda Field.

The former Take That singer broke hundreds of hearts when he proposed to the actress live on the Kyle and Jackie O breakfast show on Sydney’s 2DayFM.

“I love you so much. Would you be my betrothed until the end of time?” Robbie declared, to which Ayda replied: ‘I would love to be your betrothed until the end of time’.

Awww.

Although the news wasn’t unexpected (we reported on rumours a few weeks ago) it’s still come as a major blow to us here at Bridalwave. However we’re sure the event itself will be worthy of a mention.

Bruce Oldfield opens one stop wedding shop in London

LilyWe may still be licking our wedding dress wounds after our last piece of news, but London is fighting back when it comes to wedding dress shops.

British designer Bruce Oldfield, has just opened a new boutique store in London’s Beauchamp Place, and we can’t wait to pop in and see this designers creations.

Bruce, who created wedding frocks for Samantha Cameron, Queen Rania of Jordan, and Jemima Khan has said this store will be a “one-stop-shop” and include mother of the bride, bridesmaids, shoes and bags as well as the all important wedding dresses and accessories.

Vintage bridal store, the White Closet, opens in Manchester

We’ve just heard that vintage-inspired bridal boutique, The White Closet, is due to open next month in Manchester.

The store, which is situated in the boho district of West Didsbury, is said to be aimed at “more arsty, creative brides-to-be, who are after something a little bit different.”

It is also said to stock dresses from a range of eras including fifties-inspired dresses to slinky Art Deco frocks. And if this wasn’t enough, we’re even greener with envy to hear that the store will be creating its own vintage line next year.

Lucky brides also get vintage afternoon tea with cupcakes and Champagne at appointments, we know where we’ll be travelling to when we need a wedding dress.

Capesthorne Hall gives couples the chance to have a venetian style wedding, complete with a goldola ride

gond.jpgBrides yearning for a Venetian style wedding, complete with that all important Gondola, may no longer need to travel to Italy.

Capesthorne Hall near Macclesfield has been revamped and is now offering couples to be the chance to get married in its new Pavilion.

As part of this, couples will be able to make full use of the venue’s lakes, where newly-weds will have the opportunity to sail around the lake in a gondola serenaded by a gondolier prior to welcoming guests at their wedding reception.

They can also opt to have a masquerade ball as opposed to a traditional reception to tie in with the Venetian theme.

The venue is also launching a competition to find Capesthorne’s Bride of the Year 2010, when the winner will receive a romantic Venetian style wedding package including a civil service in the Hall’s 18th century Jacobean-style mansion or its Georgian Chapel.

Chocorococo launches competition to to give any serving member in the armed forces a free wedding

Chocolate fountain company Chocorococo has teamed up with charity Support Our Soldiers to give any serving member in the armed forces a free wedding including everything from the venue to the dress.
