Create your own stunning wedding hair with Youtube!

By admin on August 20th, 2008

DIY hair.jpgWeddings mean lots of wonderful things for everyone involved, but the big negative for a lot of us is the expense. Cutting corners on the simplest things means you can splash out where it counts most for you. Many brides and their loved ones chip in, so I love the idea of a DIY hair and makeup session. You can, of course, go to classes to learn how-to, but and even cheaper option is right at your computer screen.

Know How: Got asthma? Don’t let it spoil your day

By admin on August 19th, 2008

Most couples feel a touch breathless on their wedding day but for asthmatics, it could be more than a case of nerves. Fortunately, if you’re one of the 5.2million Asthma sufferers in the UK, we’ve got tips from Edwina Wooler, Clinical Lead at Asthma UK on how to keep your cool and avoid an asthma attack on the big day.

* If you know that things like perfume or certain foods trigger your asthma make sure you have warned guests and caterers beforehand.

* If pollen is one of your triggers you could always come up with creative alternatives to floral displays such as fairy lights or fabric flowers, which can look just as stunning and won’t cause streaming eyes and noses!

* If you are planning to go away on honeymoon after your wedding, make sure you have enough medication to last while you’re away.

Gorgeous Occasion accessories from Next

By admin on August 6th, 2008

Picture 1.jpgWhether you’re looking for bridal accessories or something for guests, you can’t go far wrong with these gorgeous matching pieces from Next. I particularly love the fascinator’s rose design, which is subtle, yet still makes a statement.

The ivory shrug is a great choice for brides as we move into the chillier end of wedding seasons, making sure that keeping warm doesn’t always have to look drab or dowdy. Get yours from the Next website for amazingly low prices.

Fern hair vine at Yarwood-White

By admin on August 1st, 2008

Yarwood fern.JPG
Hair vines are rising in popularity – they’re not as formal as a tiara but they are more dressy than simple pins. I’ve spotted Yarwood-White’s new hair vine from a fern-themed line which includes tiaras, combs and jewellery pieces. Made from ivory freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals, it’s flexible so you can wear it however you like – it costs £165.

Corsage barrette at Designing Bride

By admin on August 1st, 2008

hair corsage.JPGFloral hair pieces are great, aren’t they? There’s something so fresh and pretty about them. This one from Designing Bride doesn’t disappoint with a double Camellia with faux pearls and crystals at the centre then finished with a spray of feathers – $135.

Johnny Loves Rosie crystal hair clip

By admin on July 25th, 2008

JLRclip.JPGSometimes it’s the little things that are most eye catching. I spotted this Sapphire round crystal clip at Johhny Loves Rosie and think it would be a great little piece of hair jewellery for a bride whether on it’s own or as part of a set. At just £10 it’s an absolute bargain and you can also get it in clear or rose crystal for your bridesmaids too.

Philosophy ‘Falling in love’ fragrance

By admin on July 21st, 2008

_5410079.jpgWhat could be more appropriate for your wedding day? Apparently created “to make a woman feel and smell absolutely, positively romantic” it also promises to help women “balance their femininity with their sensuality”. But what does it smell like? Blackberry and vanilla, apparently.

It costs $40 for 2oz from Nordstrom and is also available as an oil and an eau de parfum.

Holy Matrimony soap

By admin on July 16th, 2008

holysoap1.jpgHonestly, is there nothing that can’t be made “weddingy”? “Celebrate tying the knot,” says Uncommon Goods, with … a bar of soap with a bride and groom on it. That’s not really my idea of celebrating.

But if it’s yours, it’ll only cost you $9 and could make a good favour, particularly if you’re doing a kind of party bag for a destination wedding.

I can picture this accessory with some adorable natural curls, making it the perfect choice for younger members of your bridal party. Easy to wear and fuss free, she’ll look gorgeous and feel like a princess too. Get it from Debenhams online or in shops for just £6.

Romantic hair jewellery from Princess Bride Tiaras

By admin on July 4th, 2008

leftmodelsidepiece.jpgWhile the tiara and/or veil still reigns as the traditional choice for bridal hair pieces, often they can look a little tacky. If you want to avoid looking overdone, but are still looking for something to make your hairdo look formal then this gorgeous piece from Princess Bride Tiaras is a great choice.

I love how it’s used here to pep up the often ordinary look of a classic french roll. Made from faux pearls and sparkling flowers, I love how this large piece creates a statement without being over the top. The shape, too, means it could be used in a huge variety of hairstyles. It’ll set you back $89, and the company ships outside the US too.

Glam gold headband at Swarovski

By admin on June 30th, 2008

Swar gold.JPGHeadbands are the perfect way to pep up your hair whether you’ve opted for a sleek up do or tumbling curls. Don’t go for something so simple that it could be every day wear though. Instead, a gold-plated one like this one has clear crystal pavé which gives just the right amount of luxe without being over the top – Euro 200 at Swarovski.

Review: Pretty Polly Love Legs beauty range

By admin on June 26th, 2008

pretty polly.jpgWhen I read the words ‘Leg Cosmetics’, I must admit that I was rather dubious. While I love my make-up and am a firm believer in the usefulness of a whole lot of lotions and potions, this sounded like one of those things we’re supposed to think we need, but are a bit on the useless side. Thankfully, I was to be surprised.

Viktor & Rolf ‘Flowerbomb’ perfume

By admin on June 13th, 2008

flowerbomb.jpgI am obsessed with this perfume – ‘Flowerbomb’ by Viktor & Rolf and I don’t usually like floral scents. (I admit I had to spritz it because the bottle is so gorgeous.)

It reminds me a bit of Thierry Mugler’s ‘Angel’ in that some will love it, some will hate it and it will make some people want to throw up. Plus it’s chocolately as well as floral. And also strangely spicy. If you’re looking for a distinctive wedding day scent, check it out.
