Etsy Buy of the Week: Bridesmaid clutches

By admin on June 16th, 2008

il_430xN.29479600.jpgI think this is a lovely idea by keykalou on Etsy: a set of five handmade clutch bags for your bridesmaids.

They can all be the same fabric, or you can pick and mix. They cost $150 for five, but you can buy additional clutches for $30 each. You could, of course, fill them with bits and bobs for your bridesmaids – lipsticks, etc. – or the clutches could be the gift themselves.

Simplistic elegance for bridesmaids from Debut at Debenhams

By admin on June 11th, 2008

20080606_008010712520_LRG.jpgWe’ve seen a lot of high street bridesmaid styles of late, and while many bridesmaids are becoming more and more unique, many of you are still after a classic look. This ball gown style Lamour tuck dress by Debut is a great option for classic sophistication.

The floorlength strapless style is great for creating statuesque elegance, and this muted gold colour is a really tasteful take on a sometimes tacky colour choice. The bodice is fully boned to ensure a reliable fit without straps, and it costs £100 from Debenhams.

Bridalwave poll: Who should buy the bridesmaid dress?

By admin on June 9th, 2008

Disney Maidens.JPG
In these times of credit crunches and tightening belts, everyone is watching the pennies. So, when you ask your friends to be your bridesmaid, one question is going to be who pays? If the bride is choosing the style and colour should she pay? Or should the bridesmaid pay to help out with costs, even if it may never be worn again and may be out of her budget? Can compromises be reached on price and style to satisfy both parties? It’s a potentially tricky situation and a tough one! What do you think? You can make your own comments on this poll too.

Disney’s Fall 2008 Maidens range for bridesmaids

By admin on May 22nd, 2008

Disney Maidens.JPG
I’m pleasantly surprised by Disney’s collection for bridesmaids. Yes, it was inevitable that it would get call ‘Maidens’ which ties it in to the fairytale ethos, but the dresses are elegant and pretty. Like the bridal range, the dresses are inspired by the six fairytale heroines including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. There’s something for everyone be it full or cocktail length, strapless or halter neck and colours from dramatic black to soft pink. Some of the range is viewable online here.

Bill Levkoff’s wedding and bridesmaids’ gowns

By admin on May 22nd, 2008

levkoff1.jpgI’ve only chosen this dress (Style 623) as an example, what I really wanted to write about was the Bill Levkoff website. One of the best I’ve seen, it features an enormous range of bridesmaids’ dresses and other gowns that, while not bridal gowns per se, could certainly be worn as bridal gowns.

Plus the site is really easy to navigate, which the dresses’ colours changing at the click of a mouse. Why can’t all bridal sites be this easy?
