“Maddison” flower girl dress

By Hannah Kane on December 19th, 2008

Madison flower girl dress.jpgI’ve been a flower girl a fair few times but I never got to wear a dress as stylish as this: the “Maddison” by Dressed 2 Impress. Off the charts cute! It would look great with the little ‘un carrying big velvety roses that match the corsage on the waistband and the older bridesmaids dressed in a deep crimson. Priced £45.99.

Vintage Love Is… necklaces

By admin on December 18th, 2008

LoveIs.jpgWhilst you probably wouldn’t wear these with your wedding dress, they really are cute as a button so pop them in with a bridesmaid or flowergirls gift basket. They’ll be especially poignant if they can remember the days when the famous ‘Love is…’ cartoon pic came out. The necklaces are vintage, there are lots in the range and they are a brilliant £5 from Love Hearts and Crosses.

Heart of gold: the Ernest Jones 9ct white gold heart locket

By Hannah Kane on December 16th, 2008

heartlocket2.jpeg
When I was a cute little 5 year old with golden ringlets (many moons ago before I discovered GHDs and peroxide) I was asked to be a bridesmaid at wedding – after which the bride presented me a lovely silver heart locket that I have treasured ever since and worn religiously every day. This 9ct white gold necklace (£97.87 from Ernest Jones) is very similar, and I guarantee it would make a wonderful, lasting gift to the girls helping make your day so special.

Next’s signature childrenswear for bridesmaids and pages

By admin on December 16th, 2008

Next signature.jpg
Next has been my failsafe for pretty childrens partywear for the last couple of years and their wedding range is onw of the best on the high street. As we look forward to spring, either of these two dresses would make a great bridesmaid dress and all pages and young male guests would look dapper in this suit.

Origami roses bridesmaid dress by Debut at Debenhams

By Hannah Kane on December 15th, 2008

Pink BM dress.jpg
This lovely dusky pink prom dress, £90 by Debut at Debenhams, would make a great bridesmaid dress for a late spring or summer wedding. I’m thinking that the origami roses on the neckline would beautifully echo a bouquet of pink and white roses.

Monsoon Godiva.jpg
This sequinned dress is perfect for bridesmaid, the gorgeous chocolatey tones suit most women whilst the cut and dash of sequins turns it into a fab party dress that really can be used again. At £92.49 from Monsoon, it’s probably more expensive than your average high street dress but at least it’s virtually timeless.

Cut-price bridesmaid fashion at Utani-UK

By AbiSilvester on November 28th, 2008

utani-uk.jpgIf you’re planning on having a bevy of bridesmaids and don’t plan to make then pay for the privilege, then kitting them out with suitable gear can fast get very pricey. That’s when scouring non-bridalwear stores can prove to be a good thrifty trick, as you won’t get the same premiums slapped on as by those offering specially made bridesmaid fashion.

Utani-UK have a big sale on at the moment, and lurking among the bargains is this raspberry ‘Party Joy’ dress with a pretty wine-coloured bow detail that gives it that special occasion look that makes the difference between a cocktail dress and real bridesmaid chic. The dresses are £95 reduced from £125

Create a unique photo jewellery box for your bridesmaid

By admin on November 28th, 2008

photoworks.JPGI really like photogifts. Of course, have too many in your use and it can be a bit tacky, but a few artfully placed ones and job done! This small keepsake box can be created using a loved picture of you and the bridesmaid, a snap from the hen night or anything else you think she’ll like. It costs $39.95 and I’d recommend adding in a little piece of jewellery if you can. Of course this gift works both ways – bridesmaids can make one for the bride too. Check the range out at Photoworks.com.

Monsoon Starr shift dress for Winter bridesmaids

By admin on November 27th, 2008

35225148_F_m1.jpgNavy isn’t ordinarily a very popular colour for bridemaids, but for the Winter months, this sumptuous shade is ideal. Made even better by the great fabric, the standout part of this dress is the embellished neckline.

The star detailing creates something of a dreamy look, perfect for the darker days of the year. The silhouette and kneelength hem make it shapely and sexy while still demure and not too chilly. It’s available from Monsoon for £110.

Fun and flirty bridesmaid style from Next

By admin on November 20th, 2008

next dress.jpgClassic formal bridesmaids are all very well for some, but if that’s not really your style, or theirs, then something more flirty is just as appropriate. This Next dress is youthful and fun, while still being perfectly apt for the occasion.

The one shoulder style gives it some evening appeal, while the flowing shape and rose detailing do a lot to tone down the glam. The raspberry colour really pops out, too, perfect for brightening up a winter wedding. Get yours now for £55.

Jenny Yoo’s 2009 bridesmaid collection

By admin on November 19th, 2008

09b.jpgJenny Yoo’s 2009 collection is rather corsage-heavy and I wasn’t sure it entirely worked until I saw this ‘Jocelyn’ dress (JYS-376).

In Poppy Red Silk Shantung, not only do I think it would be a gorgeously stylish bridesmaid dress, I think it would also work for a non-traditional register office or civil ceremony. Stunning, don’t you think?

DS Imagine Dream Wedding for young gamers

By admin on November 19th, 2008

DS dream wedding.jpgI’m a big fan of the DS Lite as are my children so I think this game would be a winner for younger bridesmaids who enjoy the console. The game allows the player to plan a virtual wedding from the style to the bride’s dress and accessories, inviting the guests and more. Each ‘perfect wedding’ unlocks a new game but be prepared to act quickly to save the day if the ‘bride’ doesn’t like it! I don’t think it’s going to overly exert any brain cells but it might be fun. Get it for £24.99 at Amazon.

Tadashi silk dress for bridesmaids with a difference

By admin on November 17th, 2008

_5739371.jpgKnee-length bridesmaid styles have been growing in popularity in the past few years, allowing a more youthful and less prim style to be adopted in your wedding party. Easy to wear and effortlessly stylish, some can border on lacking the occasion, though. This Tadashi Flyaway silk gown gets the balance just right.

The fitted bodice and square neck are really fashionable and flattering, while the plain block colour and excellently executed detailing keep it formal and appropriate. It’s available from Nordstrom now for $348.

Tadashi Tiered Silk Chiffon bridesmaid dress from Nordstrom

By admin on November 13th, 2008

_5708371.jpgI think this is one of the nicest gowns I’ve ever featured on Bridalwave. I love everything about it. The colour is gorgeous, the style and shape – shutter-pleated bodice and tiered skirt – are unusual and distinctive. Yes, you’d have to have a certain figure to carry it off (and I really haven’t got that figure), but it’s frankly beautiful to behold!
