Kylie and Olivier Martinez in wedding reports

By admin on May 11th, 2006

Kylie_2Some times it’s lovely to just hear some nice news and that’s why I’m so pleased that she who we call The Pint Sized Pop Princess is getting to married to Hot French Bloke.

Apparently Kylie and Olivier will tie the knot on the property they have just purchased on French Island, off the coast of Melbourne. Rumours are that the event will take place next month.

Confetti wedding film

By admin on May 8th, 2006

Confettifilm_1We’re moving from spring to summer and with that comes a whole slew of bridal disasters on TV, wedding themed books and of course, cute Brit flicks like mockumentary ‘Confetti‘. Starring Martin Freeman and Jessica Stevenson, the basic idea is that three couples compete in a ‘wackiest wedding’ competition in the hopes of winning a house. The final couples are a tennis pair, a naked couple and musical enthusiasts but who gets the grand prize?

Chantelle and Preston to be wed

By admin on April 13th, 2006

Chantelle_2Z-list celebs Chantelle (‘I am a real celeb, I am’ or the poor man’s Paris Hilton) and Preston (from some band no one knows the name of) are apparently to get married. Oh hooplah, feel the joy! Sporting a ring which purportedly came from Preston’s Mum, Chantelle said, "It was as much unexpected for me as it was for him. He asked for his Mum to send the ring over and he asked me. I just want to marry him."

Naturally this has nothing to do with their ‘careers’ and waning publicity. The fact that they got loads of coverage is purely accidental.

Celebrity wedding rumours

By admin on April 11th, 2006

BrangelinaI love the hint of a good wedding especially if it’s a full-on Hollywood wedding replete with requisite Hello splash. So, taking a leaf from Star Trip’s book, who is rumoured to be marrying soon?

First up as the favourites are Brangelina – will they, won’t they? First there was the promise of a ceremony at George Clooney’s Italian villa that just didn’t happen and now we hear that they are off to Namibia for the most talked about birth since that couple and the manger in the promised land. Can’t see Angelina’s third wedding and Brad’s second happening before the birth but just in case, maternity wedding frocks this way.

Haute Coiffure

By admin on April 6th, 2006

VickybeckhamTop celebrity stylist Anita Cox has five top styles for all hair types to ensure your hair looks great for your wedding. She tells us what the celebs do best, tips to get the best from curly locks, how to go big without being scary plus how to go rock and roll with her modern take on the quiff.

The Jessica Simpson – "Soft waves and some random smooth bits might sound a bit off but think Jessica Simpson stunner. The hair is pinned up with a subtle side sweeping fringe. This would work well with a strapless dress."

Katie and Peter… take two

By admin on April 3rd, 2006

Jordan01In the early days of Bridalwave, I lamented the fact that Katie Price (aka Jordan) and hubby Peter Andre were already married. This, as I’m sure you’ll understand, was quite upsetting because I would have been able to write reams and reams about their, um, tastes.

I’ve really held off. I have, I tell you. Unfortunately I have succombed to the pink side and the need to comment on Katie and Peter’s second wedding. They plan to renew their vows in Disneyland only a year after they first wed. I’m sure it’ll be an equally enjoyable occasion but I do wonder why they are doing it. Not being the sharpest tools in the box, cynics would say it’s because they can’t remember their vows or perhaps it’s just for the attention. Who cares?! It’ll be fabulous. And now I can use my fave ‘sleb’ wedding pic ever (another one after the turn). She-Ra obsession anyone?

Dita and Marilyn

By admin on March 13th, 2006

DitaBurlesque star Dita von Teese certainly knew how to make a statement at her wedding to Marilyn Manson. Her Vivienne Westwood gown was bright violet and constructed out of seventeen metres of Swiss silk. Hat was by milliner Stephen Jones and her shoes by Christian Louboutin.

I, for one, am glad they stuck true to their usual style but think it would have been nice to see his face. Still, at least they had their clothes on!

Get me to the church on time!

Beetle_1From Jordan’s fairy tale carriage to the more traditional Bentley, getting to the wedding is a great occasion for trying out a luxurious vehicle for the day… but if you fancy something a little different take a look at Star Car Hire.

They have everything from a convertible red beetle to the A-Team van (which we’re sure grooms will love) and a pink cadillac. Northern Ireland readers might like the beetle stretch limo too.

Themed food

By admin on March 7th, 2006

Sarahwynter_2It used to be that the wedding reception was either a heavy sit down meal or a finger buffet, then with one swoop of a plate of bangers and mash Zoe Ball and hubby Fatboy changed all that with their simple post nuptial pub meal.

What other inspired alternatives have been tried out?

Aussie ’24′ actress Sarah Wynter (left) and magazine editor hubby Dan Peres had an eight course Australian themed menu featuring barbecued shrimp and newspaper wrapped fish and chips.

Mrs Who?

Xtina_1[Laura] If you are a forthcoming bride, among the list of a million things to think about is what you intend to call yourself once you get hitched. Not every girl wants to change her name when she gets married, whereas newlywed popstar, Christina Aquilera, has chosen to be known legally as Maria Bratman following her nuptials. Considering changing your surname is one thing, but changing your first name as well seems to be a step too far. Then again, Aguilera is not known for making the best choices – remember the buttless chaps?

For those of you still umming and ahhing about whether to take your
other half’s name, here’s some articles that may help you decide one
way or the other.

Nice day for a woof wedding

By admin on March 3rd, 2006

Puppygroom_1 It seems somewhat of a shame to leave our furry friends at home on the big day so why not dress them up and take them too? The handsome pup featured here is wearing a $79 tuxedo in stretch cotton. Lady dogs are offered a delightful white veil and dress. Both designs and many, many more can be found at Doggie Designer.

Or, you could take a leaf out of Pamela Anderson’s book and just marry your pups off to each other. Golden retriever Star and Chihuahua Luca had guests, a reception and gifts. They even had Ali G crash the event and tackle Pammy.

There is, indeed, nothing quite like a Hollywood wedding.

The tallest cake ever?

By admin on February 27th, 2006

Cake_mariska_sm In the absence of any celebs tying the knot this week (or if they have… why have we not been invited?), we are taking a fun look at past celeb weddings beginning with what could quite possibly be the tallest cake ever.

Law and order star Maritsa Hargitay and hubby Peter Hermann picked out a seven foot tall, six tiered cake in chocolate and vanilla for their enchanted forest themed nuptials. They ‘tastefully’ topped off the monstrous creation from LA cake makers Very Different cakes with their intials in swarovski crystals.

It’s such a travesty of colour and style that it actually looks kind of cool.

Fourth time’s a charm

By admin on February 24th, 2006

Presleylockwood021606_1There’s nothing like a celeb wedding to make heads spin at Bridalwave. We lament the fact that Jordan and Peter got hitched before our launch because we could have had a field day with that sequined frou-frou pink dress and the fairy tale carriage.

Still, the fun is far from over as far as we are concerned.

Lisa Marie Presley got married to producer Michael Lockwood (she has a thing about Michael’s apparently) in a traditional Japanese ceremony recently. Fourth time is a charm for Lisa Marie as mom Priscilla walked her daughter down the aisle whilst model daughter Riley was maid of honour and son, Benjamin, a groomsman.

Nice day for a Pink wedding

By admin on February 14th, 2006

Pnk04[Laura] Hooray! I’ve finally managed to track down a couple of photos of popstar Pink’s wedding to motocross star Carey Hart for your delectation. The pair got married in a non-religious ceremony on the beach in Costa Rico.

They both look fantastic. It’s nice to see a celebrity bride bring some of her own personality to the proceedings. I am particularly loving the chic lace details to the neckline of Pink’s dress. Very elegant – and perfect for what looks to be an Al Fresco ceremony.

There’s a photo of the ceremony after the jump.

An engagement ‘Hornblower’ style

By admin on February 12th, 2006

Alice_evans1[Laura] If you’re a nervous boyfriend looking for a way to utter those immortal 4 words, take some tips from, Fantastic Four star, Ioan Gruffudd who popped the question to girlfriend Alice Evans on New Years Eve by slipping an engagement ring into her mojito.

Evans says "It took me about an hour to say yes. We were in a bar. I’d had a few and I was on a bit of a rant about the state of the world. I could see Ioan going whiter and whiter. I said, ‘Do you fancy another?’, then I looked down and was like, ‘Oh my god! He said, ‘How could you miss it? It’s about the size of an aeroplane’"
