Strapless gold wedding gown at Cosmobella

By admin on April 17th, 2008

Cosmobella 17 April.JPG
Gold is a great colour if you want to wear something different without being overtly bold. This dress has further softened the gold colouring with plenty of texture from the embroidered strapless bodice and a ruched skirt swept up at the side with the popular jewelled brooch detailing and a chapel train with a gently fluted hem. It isn’t a look that reall needs accessoring (gold jewellery would be overload) so make like the model and finish with a simple but pretty hairband and a slim bracelet.

Cool contrasts with ‘Arianna’ at Charlotte Balbier

By admin on April 15th, 2008

Charlotte Balbier15April.JPG
There’s something rather charming about this dress. It makes me feel like it was thrown together but cleverly so – the single shoulder strap has a wispy corsage and the bodice has a layered wrap look whilst a cut away ruched skirt reveals a contrasting layered underskirt. It’s a bit exotic and avant garde and wisely constructed from matte fabrics which makes it rather fantastic.

Statement red wedding dress at Miss-t bridal couture

By admin on April 14th, 2008

MissT14April.JPG
It’s big and it’s bold – this red ballgown is designed to make an impact and there’s no way that anyone will forget this frock in a hurry. I do think the straps are completely unnecessary but the embroidery serves well by adding interest and also softening the colour. Symmetrical pickups at the front of the dress add oomph but the back is wisely left plain with a sweeping train.

Jewel encrusted caramel gown at Allie Renee

By admin on April 11th, 2008

You will barely need any jewellery or accessories if you opt for a dress liked this caramel coloured gown – just look at the heavy jewel beading on the neckline and repeated at the hip. The wrap bodice is great for larger busts (no danger of spillage in this style and you can fit a good bra underneath) plus the straps will add support. The apron skirt complements the bodice and the waterfall fabric at the hip is a great finishing touch. The dress also comes in white and ivory.

Pale green wedding dress at Special Day

By admin on April 10th, 2008

SpecialDay10April.JPG
Green is always going to be considered an unusual choice for a wedding dress with the colour traditionally associated with envy. However, when it’s as pretty a style as this, I think you can sweep that notion away. The traditional A-line has a lightly ruched bodice, a corsetted back with train and a matching corsage perched on the bustline. Plus, don’t you think it would look fantastic on a red head?

The aptly named ‘Beautiful’ by Caroline Castigliano

By admin on April 9th, 2008

Caroline9April.JPG
The sash for this dress is an elegant style. In a dark blue with a bow detail at the hip and silver beading at the ends, it’s a nice way to update the sash trend. A strapless lace bodice forms the top half whilst the skirt is an A-line overlaid with translucent material for a soft, romantic look.

Crinkle skirt wedding dress at Raul Novias

By admin on April 8th, 2008

RaulNovias8April.JPG
This dress won’t be to everyone’s taste (what is?) but it would be great for someone who wants the white traditional look but with a twist. The long line embroidered body is right on trend and the wide straps make a nice change from strapless styles. The unique selling point is the fun skirt though, it’s made with a crinkled, pleated fabric cut on the bias so it stays quite streamlined and makes it a fun style.

Art deco inspired Amsale gown

By admin on April 7th, 2008

Amsale7April.JPG
Boyish figures are in luck because this dress is made for them with slinky unforgiving silk clinging to waifish frames. The halterneck is great for showing off toned arms and drawing attention away from small cleavages whilst the drop waist draws on art deco elegance, elongates the body and draws the eye to the hips. Long legs should balance the skirt and it would look equally great with towering heels or barely there flats.

Ian Stuart’s ‘Champs Elysees’ fishtail gown

By admin on April 4th, 2008

IanStuart4April.JPG

It may not be as flamboyant as some of Ian Stuart’s other dresses but it certainly is a beautiful gown. The silk chiffon halterneck is covered with beads, sequins and crystals to create a shimmer effect and it’s in a fishtail style, so, great for adding curves. Colours available are ivory and white and there is also a matching veil.

Go for gold with ‘Dominique’ by Amanda Wyatt

By admin on April 2nd, 2008

AmandaWyatt2April.JPG
The glam gold sheen of this dress is just right for those women who want to make a splash in anything but white. The bodice is ruched with a little jewel detail whilst the skirt is swept to meet at one side with a feathery corsage on the lower hip. Teaming a dress like this with the right accessories won’t be hard – think a matte gold for strappy sandals and a little clutch and wear a feather spray in your hair.

Lace jacket and white wedding dress at Benjamin Roberts

By admin on March 25th, 2008

BenjaminR25March.JPG
Whilst this dress is a white style, its simplicity is deceptive. Look closely and you’ll see intricate folding at the bust, waist and skirt which gives the dress character and texture. The back has a covered button fastening and a train, here the ruching gives a bustle like effect but without the volume. Add in the included lace jacket with three quarter length sleeves and this look will be great for any ceremony.

‘Canterbury’ by Romantica of Devon

By admin on March 20th, 2008

Romantica20March.JPG
From the hourlgass silhouette with the mermaid skirt to the intricate embroidery, this dress has definite starlet appeal. I particularly like the way the right balance of embroidery has been achieved – there isn’t too much though it spans the bustline down to the knee and it’s broken up on the bodice and interspersed with sparkling beads. Glam it up with big curls, chandelier earrings and a bold statement bracelet.

Simple ‘Celia’ wedding dress by Judy Mott

By admin on March 19th, 2008

JudyMott19March.JPG
It may be simple but it’s very effective. This is the kind of style that you wear rather than some dresses that seem to wear you. In mill dupion silk, the bodice has spaghetti straps and is lightly ruched for shape with an A-line skirt and the choice of a lace or button back. Dress it up to make it more dramatic, or wear as is with simple, stylish accessories. Price around £1800.

Sparkle in ‘Moonlight’ by Blue Bridalwear

By admin on March 18th, 2008

Blue18March.JPG
It’s the back of this dress that has won me over. Perfect for hourglass figures or small pear shapes it has capped sleeves and a an open back with covered buttons running from the base of the back to the hem of the train. The front meanwhile has a demure high cut and is trimmed with diamantes.

Romantic ‘Sandra’ gown at Berketex Bride

By admin on March 17th, 2008

Berketex17March.JPG
This skirt deviates from the traditional and is undeniably pretty with full layers of falling, fluted tulle. Fortunately the effect has been restricted to the skirt (all over would have been very toilet roll, don’t you think?), leaving the bodice as a slim, pleated and assymetrical shape with a sweetheart neckline.
