Brides, are you wearing the correct size bra? Let M&S help you find the perfect fit!

By Elisabeth on August 24th, 2011

It is almost scary how different the correct sized bra will make any woman look. The truth is that over a third of women never been measured and are as a result wearing the wrong size. But there is now good news for anyone that falls into this category!

M&S are holding a ‘Bra Fitevent from 25th August to 25th September. Simply pop by your local M&S for a free bra fit and you can walk out of there with an improved posture.

And not only will you be fitted for free but you will also receive a £5 off voucher when you spend £30 on lingerie (excluding shapewear and hosiery).

If you’re a bride and haven’t been measured yet I strongly recommend doing this as you’ll be amazed how differently that wedding dress will look on when the girls are supported properly.

‘Let Them Eat Cake’ royal wedding cake exhibition, 22 – 25 April 2011

By Elisabeth on April 22nd, 2011

Kate and William’s wedding is just one week away, the royal baker has been confirmed and the world awaits to see what the dress will look like. But since our invitation to the royal wedding got lost in the post, we will unfortunately not be sampling the delicious wedding cake on the 29th.

Not to worry though, Tate & Lyle Sugars have dedicated a whole exhibition to the culinary art of wedding cakes, so that we all can get a fix of sugar before the big day!

‘Let Them Eat Cake’ offers members of the public a guide to a number of royal wedding cakes throughout history. Wander around the room at the summit of The Wellington Arch in London (just a stone throw from Buckingham Palace) and marvel at the edible artworks that copy the cakes for the likes of Henry VIII, Charles and Diana as well as a downscaled model of Queen Elizabeth 2nd’s wedding cake which stood 9ft high and weighed 500 pounds.

Tate & Lyle Sugars ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ is on at the Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner from 22-25 April, 10am – 5pm daily. Entrance is free. For more information see www.english-heritage.org.uk

National Wedding Show: Royal Wedding Cake Inspirations

By Elisabeth on January 26th, 2011

We love cakes here at Bridalwave, especially wedding cakes. And with the excitement of the forthcoming royal wedding (do we dare say of the royal wedding of the century…) on 29th April 2011 , our sweet-toothy nature can’t help to wonder what the choice of cake will be.

Will Catherine and William go with a traditional tiered masterpiece that fits with their choice of venue, Westminster Abbey, or will the couple throw tradition out the window and choose a more modern and trend led design? Since the specific details are still very much hush hush – we do expect there will be cake  though! – Sarah Howells of Rosie and Richards has shared her ideas and inspirations for the wedding cake.

As a modern couple who still value tradition, Howells would love to see Prince William and Catherine take a modern twist on a traditional royal wedding cake: “Perhaps a tower of elegant cupcakes in shades of springtime decorated with iced flowers that match the blooms in the bouquet, or an opulent chocolate torte tower topped with spring berries and edible sugared flowers.”

Now the latter one sounds absolute delicious. There’s nothing like chocolate – and lots of it!

The Royal Wedding Cake?

If you’re looking for inspiration for your own wedding cake, the crème de la crème of cake designers will be at The National Wedding Show in London (February) and Birmingham (March) to offer up gems of advice and services.

Dates for your diary: The National Wedding Show, 18-20 February, Olympia, London and 4-6 March NEC, Birmingham
