Designer dress hunters on a budget should head down to Sharon Cunningham’s closing down sale as she takes time out to be with her new new baby and young son. At her London boutique, she has a number of sample wedding dresses still on sale with price reductions making most of them now in the £100- £500 price bracket alongside accessories that includes shoes and tiaras. Most of the gowns are a size 10 or 12 but get in there quick as the doors close on 21st September.

My other half is an enormous fan of Hotel Chocolat and frankly would probably get wed everyday of the week if these new wedding favours were on offer. The white boxes are embossed with a lovebird design then filled with champagne truffles and the bite sized pure chocolate slabs that they are famed for. Each pack contains 10 favours, costing a total £27. Available from 18th September.

Tomorrow, as you’re all aware, is not only a Saturday (hurrah! Weekend!) but also one of the luckiest days of the last 100 years according to numerologists. The number seven has some great attributes as it stands for fertility, creativity and productivity and when the number is repeated, so does the intensity. Whilst Time magazine name the date as the most popular of all time, some couples will be holding out for 8/8/08 as eights are lucky in Chinese culture – book now!

You’ll be in good company too – Eva Longoria gets wed tomorrow too and if you happen to be in Vegas, you’ll be joining a massive 3000 other couples.

London bridalwear retailer Mirror Mirror are celebrating their 18th birthday this month with 10% off any gowns ordered throughout June. At their shop you’ll find their own line Mirror Mirror Couture plus designers Elie Saab, Cymbeline and Tara Keely.

But the real bargain hunters should make a note of 16-17 June when a small number of gowns will go on sale at up to 70% off their normal retail price. Fuller figure brides will be pleased that Mirror Mirror will also be stocking designs up to a size 26 from September.

Stock sale as Christiana Couture closes

If you fancied a Christiana Couture gown, you had better get in there quick as the owner and designer Christina Marty will be closing the store down from end of July 2007. It will remain closed for two years. However, the good news is that many of the dresses in her showroom are now on sale for bargain prices. The gowns which normally retail between £3000 – £6500 will be sold off for as little as £200 on a first come, first served basis so go now if you want to buy.

Queen Elizabeth’s wedding dress to go on display

Queen%20Liz.JPG Royal fans will be in for a treat with an exhibition of Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding dress. Worn on her wedding day, at the age of 21, in 1947 to the of the permenant foot-in-mouth, Prince Phillip, the dress is on show to mark the 60th anniversary of the couple.

The dress, designed by Norman Hartnell, is silk and embroidered with crystals and 10,000 seed pearls including a 13 feet train. Included in the display will be clothes and jewelley from other family members as well as jewellery presented to the Queen by Phillip and wedding gifts including those from Mahatma Ghandi, Pope Pius XII and former US president Harry Truman.
