Diamonds may be forever, but couple them up with a platinum band and you’ve got a match made in heaven that will certainly outlast anything you and your partner might get up to on earth! Platinum is a great choice if you like the ‘whiteness’ of silver, but want something more hard-wearing and less prone to flaws, so if you’ve decided this is the metal for you, you might want to check out a new exhibition showcasing platinum bands from some of the world’s top jewellery designers, fashion designers and even architects.
Eternal Platinum will run throughout Coutts London Jewellery Week, 8th – 12th June. from at I.N.C Space, Covent Garden.

Want to get a closer look at the absolute latest in bridal fashion? If so, you might want to try and nab yourself a place at the forthcoming catwalk show by Suzanne Neville, the name behind such envy-inspiring creations as the short Antoinette dress and the romantic ‘Mustique’ gown. She’s holding an extra special event at the Tower of London on Monday 18th May to preview her 09/10 collection, and wants to ensure there are plenty of real brides in attendance!
I’ll be there with my bridalwave hat on, and can’t wait to check out the new styles! The show starts at 5pm, and there are only a limited number of places, so if you want to come along, call 01483 533209 or or go online here (click ‘events’).

Being an office of Twitter addicts, we love spontaneous internet phenomena around here, so we were amused to see that today seems to have become ‘wear your wedding dress at home day’. It all started when Amber, who by coincidence is writing her last post for our sister site Shoewawa today, decided to slip into her wedding dress to celebrate her second anniversary.
Amber’s initial tweet read: ‘Just put on my wedding dress and swished around for a few minutes. Still fits. Had to remove before Asda arrive, though…’ This idea was promptly seized upon by former brides wishing to re-live their happy days, and thus ‘#wearweddingdressathome’ was born. In Amber’s case, it’s easy to see why playing dressup with this wonderful Vera Wang frock would appeal – she looks absolutely stunning.

If you were too young in the ’80s to fully appreciate the wonders of shoulder pads and poodle perms (but somehow wish you’d been there!) a unique event this weekend could get your closer to that world than you’d ever imagined.
Eccentric theatre company Gideon Reeling are staging an 80′s wedding at a secret location in Central London – and you’re invited to attend the reception! The company, which has put on all kinds of period pieces from a 1950s tea party (pictured) in East London to a psychic performance by an oracle in the back of a van in Reading is known for a staggering level of attention to detail and has already been taking audiences through a time-travel trip with its Great British Road Trip series commissioned by Vauxhall. The wedding reception will take place on Sat 21 March at 7.30.

Fancy a look at some historical wedding objects? The Coutauld Gallery in London will have two wedding cassoni from Renaissance Italy on display from 12th February to 17th May. The cassoni – or chests – were elaborate pieces of furniture designed to celebrate marriages between powerful families. These particular chests were ordered by Florentine Lorenzo Morelli to celebrate his marriage with Vaggia Nerli in 1472 and are the best surviving pair in existence.
There is more info on the website here.

Dates for your diary, Green/ Organic/ Eco Weddings

If you’re planning a green wedding, or simply hoping to make a few decisions in planning your event that will help to make it more earth-friendly, you’re probably already looking forward to the inaugural Eco Chic Wedding & Home Show in March. And being a hippy at heart, I was delighted to speak Kate Haines, who co-founded the event along with Katie Fewings and Michelle Berhardi-Toner.
I started by asking Kate why she thought a wedding show for environmentally conscious couples would be so popular right now – particularly at a time when keeping costs down is also a priority for most people.
Read on after the jump for her answers.

It’s goodbye to 16 out of 18 bridal salons at Saks Fifth Avenue with this month being the last in which they will take orders. However leading locations at the New York flagship and the Beverly Hills store will remain open. The decision has been made in order to make room for ‘higher-growth businesses’ which we can only assume means the bridal salons weren’t making enough dosh [via WWD].
