Cheryl Cole off on ‘second honeymoon’ with ex-hubby Ashley as they rekindle romance?

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on July 11th, 2011

Cheryl and Ashley: Back on? (Photo: PA)

We have so far not really mentioned Cheryl Cole’s rekindled romance with ex-hubby Ashley Cole. It’s not that we disagree or agree – each to their own – but we have just had too much other great things to write about.

If you’ve followed the news you know all about it, but here is a recap to get you up to speed on the Cheryl and Ashley saga. The couple divorced in 2010 after Ashley was revealed to have had a string of affairs, Cheryl started her new career as a TV talent show judge, she ended up flying out to the US to make it big this year, was publicly “dumped” by Simon Cowell and FOX after reported a) Americans couldn’t understand her Geordie accent and b) ‘lack of chemistry’ with fellow judge Paula Abdul.  Now back in the UK, licking her wounds we’re sure, Cheryl has rekindled her romantic links with Ashley, and the two are now reportedly planning a second honeymoon.

Despite being against the reunion at first, Cheryl’s mother Joan is apparently beginning to warm to the idea of them reuniting, and have given them her blessing to take a romantic holiday to South Africa.

If they can make it work a second time around we’re happy for them, but that can’t be said of Cheryl’s ex-boyfriend Derek Hough, who took the singer to South Africa twice last year.

A source close to Derek told the Daily Star: “It’s a kick in the teeth. The poor man has been unceremoniously dumped by Cheryl and now she and Ashley are off to Africa which Derek used to call ‘their place’.” Ouch!

But heading to South Africa for a romantic break wasn’t Cheryl’s idea; it was her mum’s if we are to believe the rumours. Joan suggested it as a destination instead of the Caribbean when footballer Ashley mentioned whisking Cheryl away.

BW Poll: Try before you buy

By admin on November 18th, 2008

The alternative wedding list sprang up due to the fact that many couples live together before they tie the knot. The idea of marriage is wildly different from that people had even up to around 30 years ago; many just don’t see it as a permenant institution anymore – and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But, before you sign on the dotted line, will you or did you give cohabitation a go – did you try before you buy?

The First Date: A day at the races

By admin on June 17th, 2008

races.jpg
Royal Ascot is back in full swing this week and if you’re lucky enough to be whisked away to such a prestigious event by your prospective new beau then you’ll want to dress to impress. Everyone knows that the ladies’ fashion of the races is big business, so I’ve put together an outfit that’s sophisticated, appropriate and still flattering.

The First Date: A night at the theatre

By admin on June 12th, 2008

theatre.jpg
If you’re stepping out for the first time to somewhere as glam as the theatre, it’s important that you feel comfortable without being underdressed. It’s one of those situations where you’re better off overdressed than under, so if it’s going to be an evening at the ballet then some glamour and pomp is half the fun.

One in four weddings ends in the ruin of a friendship

By admin on June 6th, 2008

It’s hardly the most cheery of topics on what is supposed to be a very happy day, but apparently 25% of you might be losing a friendship due to behaviour on their part or yours. But what went wrong?

Unforgiveable faux pas include drunkenness, unfunny or inappropriate speeches, stealing a bride’s thunder or donning a bigger hat than her mum along with guests failing to turn up after sending RSVPs, arguments over arrangements, and bust-ups over stag and hen nights.

The study of 2500 married Brits commissioned by Debenhams Wedding Service included these bust-ups:

* A bride groom who was told by his best man the night before the ceremony that his bride-to-be had been bedding another fella for three months.

* A drunken guest who yelled out the name of a groom’s ex-girlfriend when the vicar asked if there were any reason why the couple should not be wed.

* A bride and her female colleague who ended the night in a fist fight after the workmate arrived in a stunning white dress.

Could you find love in your spare room?

By admin on May 29th, 2008

SpareRoom.JPGWell, stranger things have happened. I once interviewed a woman who met her future husband for the first time in her own living room! A recent poll by SpareRoom.co.uk, the UK’s house and flat share site, found that 30% had fallen in love with their flatmate. Site user Joanna McCreeth (pictured) got slightly more than she intended when she put up a last minute ad for a new flatmate as next summer she’ll marry Roddy Boyce, the man who answered the ad, took the room and proposed! Aren’t they cute?

Did you meet your intended in a your own home or somewhere unusual? I’d love to know. I met mine in a bar – not much unusual about that!

Should parents of the wedding couple meet before or after the engagement?

By Alex Roumbas on May 16th, 2008

meet_the_fockers_front.jpgI know this seems like a strange subject to revisit during the wedding planning, but I’ve got to assume that some people are reading Bridalwave who aren’t quite engaged yet – I know I did. The other night we had a first for our relationship: our parents met each other, around a month after the big question.

Everyone I speak to has a different reaction to the fact that our parents did not meet until after we were engaged.

Can you keep the love alive even when you disagree?

By admin on March 12th, 2008

bridezilla.JPGAmdist the sea of press releases currently drowning my inbox is an interesting one about love and relationships. “Can Democrats and Republicans Find True Love That Lasts (With Each Other)?” asks the release with “America’s Love Doctor” Linda Olson asking if it is possible for people with completely opposing interests to be in love. The release points at the relationship between Democratic commentator for CNN’s “The Situation Room” James Carville, and his wife Mary Matalin, a powerhouse Republican consultant. That’s a big split in interests for sure.

Below are a few tips from “America’s Love Doctor” on “how even the most hard-lined Republicans and Democrats can work toward happiness together by making complex matters of the heart just a little more simple.” So far, so good. Political angle makes it all sound very solid.

There are some interesting – and fairly common sense ideas for ensuring relationships work. For example, “Try changing up the way you normally argue about hot button topics or what news channel to watch – new communication skills are the key to better relationships! When you begin to communicate in a positive, workable way, your relationship with your lover, kids, and friends will begin move in a positive direction and become more pleasant.”

Now, which news channel to watch isn’t a hot button topic in my house but yes, I see where she’s going. Be positive!

Top male flirting techniques are turning women off, says survey

By admin on March 6th, 2008

bridalwave.JPGOh dear, men just aren’t getting flirting right, in fact men make themselves unattractive to women they fancy by using their eyes in ill-judged flirting techniques, new research released by The College of Optometrists revealed today.

The survey found that over half of men (55%) admit to actively using their eyes to flirt with someone they find attractive, with top male flirting tricks including ‘making eye contact for longer than normal’ (75%), ‘winking’ (20%), ‘looking at an area of the body they find attractive other than the face’ (20%), and ‘glancing away repeatedly’ (30%).
