Research says couple set engagement time limit

Cartier%20ring.JPGA recent survey of 3000 engaged or married Brits has found that 1 in ten have set themselves a time limit on how far down the relationship they should get engaged. A massive 75% said they would end the relationship if that deadline went without a proposal. With only 38% of proposals getting the full bended knee treatment, 43% wish their proposal had been more romantic and they aren’t afraid to tell their partner so!

Girls want gadgets for Valentines – do you?

According to a survey of 2000 adults from electrical retailers Comet, red roses and chocolates won’t cut the mustard this year (they will with me) as 23% of women would rather receive a cool gadget even though 93% of men are heading down the traditional flowers route leaving just 7% to source that Sat Nav, MP3 player or camera.

Seeing as all our fabulous brides started off single, it got me wondering how you all met your other halves. Were you introduced by friends, flirted over the photocopier at work (do people still do that?) or did you meet online? Funnily enough, the latter way of meeting people is not only not at all gasp inducing these day. I bet you could all name someone who met their significant other online. I can think of several!

Hot fuss: why is online dating still treated as though it’s mysterious and new?

Can we get over this whole “online dating” thing and stop calling it a phenomena? After its initial boom and mystery practically 10 years ago, why are we still freaking out about it? I suppose that it’s still technically new, and that the Internet and social networking and meeting people online is somewhat scary to the more conservative and the blessed technophobes.

However, surely mainstream media is a bit tired of analyzing the mystifying concept of online courtships? Between the “It’s dangerous! It could kill you!” forewarnings, the Bridget Jonesy “It’s so hard to find a nice bloke online” articles and books, why are we still *realizing* that its just as hard to meet The One online as it is in real life?
