If you’re looking for a jeweller to create a bespoke engagement ring – like Brad Pitt did for Angelina Jolie – here’s a little gem for you.
Having grown up in a picture-perfect Wiltshire village, Victoria Tryon spent most of her childhood days outdoors, absorbing the beauty of the English countyside. The colours, forms and textures discovered as a young girl has certainly inspired Victoria in her career as a fine jeweller, as she has worked with some of the world’s greatest jewellery houses.
Victoria launched her eponymous brand in 2009 with the aim of producing unique pieces that each have a story to tell. A trained Gemmological Institute of America grader, Victoria will look at discovering the emotions behind each bespoke commission.
After months and perhaps even years of speculation, it is finally official: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (or Brangelina as they’ve been dubbed) are engaged to be married. The couple, who met at the filming of Mr & Mr Smith seven years ago, have previously said that they wouldn’t tie the knot until it was equal for everyone.
Earlier in the year, Pitt told US media that the couple has been ‘getting a lot of pressure from the kids’ to get married. And it now seems that the pressure from their six children finally became the deciding factor.
According to the couple’s rep, there isn’t a wedding date yet, but the ring that Angelina was seen wearing last week is ‘a promise for the future’. The most talked about piece of jewellery in La La Land isn’t any off-the-shelf kind of thing either.
Pitt has been working with jeweller Robert Procop for a year to design the sparkler. Commenting on the collaboration a statement from Procop said: ”Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand,” the statement continued. “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.”
As mentioned there is still no news about when the Hollywood power couple will wed or what style of wedding they will have and where in the world it will happen. Our bet is on a more subdued event rather than a Kardashian-esque extravaganza (both Brad and Angelina have been married previously), and somewhere that means something to the couple – and their children. Perhaps Cambodia, Ethiopia, Namibia, Vietnam or Nice where the couple’s children were born/adopted from…
Also unknown is the design of Angelina’s wedding dress. We think she’d look stunning in a vintage gown, only with less leg on display than at the recent Oscar’s.

Could this be the engagement ring to end all engagement rings?!
Swizerland-based Shawish Jewelry has created a diamond ring that makes Beyoncé’s 18-carat engagement ring from Jay-Z and the late Elizabeth Taylor’s 30-carat sparkler from Richard Burton look like peanuts. The giant rock is said to be a 150-carat diamond ring. And this is all diamonds: the entire ring is made out of one huge diamond.
Now while we continue to drool over the image of what the dazzler would look like on our hand, it is worth noting that the ring is expected to sell for around $70 million – that’s about £44m.
We’re told it has taken Shawish one year to carve the diamond and as expected the design has already been copyrighted.
Last weekend I was enjoying a lovely Saturday afternoon luncheon with good friends on London’s Primrose Hill, looking out over the hazy city skyline. We were chatting birthdays (mine), travels, and life as we soaked up the sun on the glorious March day.
Primrose Hill, with all its surrounding beauty, is also a popular date destination for couples, old and new – often seen snuggled up oblivious to the crowds around. This particular day one couple in particular grabbed our attention.
The guy – in his twenties – put on a wonderful picnic spread for the object of his affection, a cute girl also in her twenties. There was Laurent Perrier Champagne, real glasses (in a park you notice this) and some well thought out nibbles. Apart from perhaps being one of their first dates, my friends and I started to wonder if he was going to propose – or as one called it: Primosing (that’s proposing on Primrose if you wondered). It all turned very exciting when he presented her with a box…
This got me thinking about proposals and what is the best way to pop the question. While being proposed to on Primrose Hill as the capital looks on could be some girl’s dream, it could be some other girl’s nightmare. But what are the good, the bad and the downright ugly ways of proposing?
The ugly proposals
In this category fall the cheesy, unimaginative and downright boring proposals. Asking someone to marry you through the means of a big screen at a sporting event springs to mind. Not only are you putting yourself up for potential humiliation in front of several thousands of people, you are also putting the girl in a horrible position. There they find themselves on the screen, totally taken by surprise. Regardless of what they may say, girls care about what they look like and to have your face blown up to insane proportions with everyone watching is simply not on.
Valentine’s Day-engagement-ring-in-the-champagne-glass proposals also fall into this section.
The bad proposals
Going all Romeo, spitting out poem after poem to your chosen one isn’t the best way forward. Even though poetry can be beautiful, the girls really just want to hear what is in your heart. So speak from it!
If your girl is a covert (or fully outed) geek, she might find a social media proposal charming, but best to do it in person and rather announce it through the web I’d say.
I’d also put any proposals that entail hiding the ring in any form of food. Not only do you risk the girl accidentally swallowing the ring, she probably doesn’t want her bling covered in cake.
The good proposals
Now for the good ways to propose! These are the ones that show you truly know the person you’re asking to marry you or are unique. What this is only you know, but to give you some inspiration they could include bringing her to the first place you kissed or said ‘I love you’. In other words, any place that is special to you and that will bring back those memories. Hey she might even be more inclined to say yes simply because of this.
Alternatively, get creative and plan a proposal to sweep her off her feet. Remember the musical marriage proposal on the Euston train? It wasn’t the most romantic of places, but it sure was memorable! Adam had enlisted his choir to serenade his then girlfriend Lucy. Aww…
There was also the guy who had made a movie trailer for his proposal which culminated with him entering the cinema screen to pop the question. Brilliant! Or the one that organised for his girlfriend to go on a StumbleUpon adventure. Cute!
You can see videos of both of the proposals below. But what is in your opinion the good or the bad way to propose?
Now back to the guy and the girl on Primrose Hill. As I mentioned, he did bring out a box to present to the girl. And it was a very recognisable one…
It was the iconic white box of Apple’s new iPad. She didn’t seem too fussed, but all of us girls concurred this was one box we’d like our boyfriends to give us… at least for now.
*The above opinions are my own and not intended to offend anyone. In the end what is right for you is the best way. And anyone proposing to me should read the above…
Justin Timberlake sure put a ring on it. After months of speculation, Jessica Biel has been spotted with a huge diamond ring on her finger. And what a rock it is!
The vintage looking ring features a large, slightly rounded square-cut diamond with smaller stones around. It is great to see that Jessica, who turned 30 just a week ago, is a girl after my own heart.
It is not know what carat the ring is yet, bit from the looks of it Justin has done very well.
Could Britain’s darling Adele be heading toward marriage with her new boyfriend Simon Konecki?
The singer, who took home two awards at last night’s BRIT Awards was photographed wearing a huge sparkler on her engagement finger, which has of course sparked rumours.
The 23-year-old wore two bands on the same finger of her left hand, one small one which was overshadowed by a large yellow emerald ring. If Simon has in fact popped the question we don’t know, but we do hope that lots of happiness awaits Adele, who has famously made a success of her relationship breakups.
Looking at the photo above, Adele will make a very pretty bride if and when she does get married. Oh we do hope this rumour is true!

Bristol jewellery designer, Diana Porter, has drawn on the Cornish landscape in her latest collection. Featuring her characteristic hand etching technique, the rings have interesting layers and texture, creating a modern feel yet with a historical twist.
All rings are handmade, using conflict free diamonds as well as ethically mined gold, silver and gemstones.
Newly engaged Hollywood actress, Drew Barrymore, hit the red carpet at the Big Miracle première in Washington last night.
This was Drew’s first public appearance since saying yes to fiancé Will Kopelman’s question earlier this month. Drew was glowing – as newly engaged ladies should do – as she showed off her huge diamond ring which according to sources is close to four carats.
Her beau, Will, looked dapper in a suit and tie as he accompanied his pretty lady up the red carpet.
Where can we find one of those for ourselves?! Speaking of both the ring AND the man of course.
Not sure if age makes you think about things and decide quicker, or if it’s when you know you’ve found love you just know. Whatever the reason, congratulations are in order to former Westlife star Brian McFadden who is engaged to his girlfriend of eight months, Vogue Williams.
The 31-year-old only broke off an engagement to Australian singer Delta Goodrem in April last year, but speaking to OK! Australia Brian confessed: ‘It’s early (to be engaged) when you think about how long we’ve been together, but not when you consider the amount of time we’ve spent together. We’ve literally spent every second of every day together for eight months now.’
The happy couple met shortly after Brian’s relationship with Delta, who he had been engaged to for three years, ended in April 2011. However, this won’t be the first time down the aisle for the boyband singer; Brian was previously married to Kerry Katona.
Vogue and Brian, who are both Irish, plan to get married in Europe later this year.
Did you fall in love immediately and get engaged within a year after meeting your partner? We’d love to hear your story.
Brian tweeted a photo of Vogue earlier this morning, writing: ‘My beautiful wife to be x.’
He also joked that he has to ‘invite all (his) followers to the wedding.’ The bride to be also took to Twitter to share the happy news with the world saying:
Looks like third time lucky might be one the cards for another Hollywood actress. Drew Barrymore wasn’t the only actress to have her beau get down on one knee over the holidays, and according to reports Halle Berry is now to become Mrs Oliver Martinez after he popped the question with an emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan.
The 45-year-old who has two previous marital failures behind her is said to have told friends that Oliver is ‘a keeper’.
Martinez famously dated singer Kylie Minogue for several years before splitting in 2007, while Halle most recent dated handsome model Gabriel Aubry – who she has a 3-year-old daughter Nahla with – for five years before breaking up in 2010.
One of my favourite stars from celeb world Drew Barrymore has just announced that she’s engaged to be married to arts consultant Will Kopelman! I might have been hiding away in the far northern parts of Scandinavia for most of the Christmas and New Year’s break, but how did I not know that Drew was seeing someone?!
But enough about me and more about Drew. The 36-year-old Hollywood actress is now set to walk down the aisle for the third time. Will is said to have popper the question over the holidays while the couple were on holiday in Sun Valley, Idaho, with a colourless radiant-cut diamond by Graff Diamonds, according to People.com.
Drew, who has been married twice before, started dating Will in February last year.
Who is this Will you ask (as do I)? Will is the son of former CEO of Chanel, Arie Kopelman, so Drew is sorted sartorially!
Congratulations are in order for US pop star Britney Spears who has done it again – getting engaged that is. The singer and her boyfriend of two years, Jason Trawick, is the latest celebrity couple to get engaged.
American celeb news site TMZ that is reporting that the 40-year-old Hollywood agent asked her father’s permission to marry his daughter before popping the question on his birthday. Britney then hinted to the happening on Twitter saying: “OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!”.
While this will be the third marriage for Britters, it is the first time Jason will don a suit to become a husband. Britney famously married childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in 2004, then backing dancer Kevin Federline.
We hope three will be the lucky number for Britney.
But according to Glamourmagazine.co.uk Kristin and Jay are now engaged for the second time.
After getting engaged back in April, the engagement – and relationship – came to an abrupt end just one month later, leaving Kristin ‘devastated’.
But it appears that the reality TV star has forgiven her ex – and the very public break-up – as she tweeted yesterday: “This time it’s official: Jay and I are engaged again:).”
Congratulations to actress Anne Hathaway who’s announced she’s engaged to boyfriend of three years, Adam Shulman, after he popped the question with a Kwiat Heritage engagement ring.
The couple started dating in 2008 after Anne’s split from - or should we say traded in - her then boyfriend Raffaello Follieri after he pled guilty to 14 accounts of money laundering, conspiracy and wire fraud.
Speaking about her relationship to Adam, Anne jokingly said Adam “ruined” her plan of staying single.
She explained: “We hit if off immediately but it took us a pretty long time to get together. He thought that I had a boyfriend and I thought that he had a girlfriend, so I thought that I’d better keep my distance because I didn’t want to be that girl. Mellow doesn’t always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life.”
“I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”
Anne has previously been against the idea of getting married, but reveals she changed her mind about the institution after seeing her best friend walk down the aisle: “I am open to marriage, actually. I just went through a phase where I wanted to look at it from every angle to make sure that I wasn’t just falling in step with some kind of prescribed fantasy. I was at my best friend’s wedding recently, and I watched this person who I love like a sister, and who has changed my life and continues to change my life for the better, who I feel as close to as I do my family, commit herself to a man who she loves, and I watched how happy it made her. I mean, she looked like she was riding a bubble the whole night. I thought, ‘Weddings are important because they celebrate life and possibility.’ ”
Aww. Anne & Adam, congratulations to you both from the Bridalwave team!
After the (not so shocking) news that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband of 72 days, Kris Humphries, I thought I wouldn’t bore you with every single little detail about the events but I can’t ignore them completely either (although we are more about happy wedding related news than the sad here at Bridalwave).
Due to ‘irreconcilable differences’ and despite Kris putting a $2 million diamond engagement ring on her finger, Kim has decided to become a single lady once more – and she’s keeping the ring! As we understand, Kris was hoping to get the 20.5 carat diamond ring back from his soon to be ex wife, but looks like Kim seemingly has other plans.
While appearing on Good Morning America, Kim’s mother Kris Jenner said: “It’s a gift – you keep a gift’. Is this a wedding no-no?
Sure we get that presenting someone with an engagement ring is like a present, but in reality it is more of a symbol of your love and commitment to the other person. If this ends , before or after saying ‘I do’, surely the commitment has been broken and the ring should be returned to whoever purchased it? Also, would you want to keep an engagement ring that your ex-fiance/husband gave you? It’s not like you could – or even would – wear it when going out. Then again, it might be completely different story when the ring is worth $2 million…
