Sentimental Values porcelain teacup candle holders

By admin on April 17th, 2008

23012NA-M.JPGWith all the myriad wedding candles floating around the internet, it’s often hard to become excited by any one design, whether you’re a shopping bride or a humble writer.

Imagine my delight, then, when I clapped eyes on these little treasures. These porcelain cups and saucers are designed to hold tealights burning in the centre of your reception tables and they are just so very sweet I’m considering throwing a party just to get to buy some. They’re from Sentimental Values at Our Marriage and cost from $2.60 each depending on how many you buy.

By admin on April 16th, 2008

miawedding290.jpgSome of us are lucky enough to get wed in a building that does all the talking, but if you’re looking to spruce up your wedding venue with some personal touches then why not consider an aisle runner? A little more subtle than a red carpet, Signature Wedding Aisle Runners’ designs are classic and made exactly to your tastes.

Choose to have the happy couple’s names in monogram or a design pattern of your choice. A great idea for creating a sense of formal ceremony, and even better for the wedding photos. Find out more about pricing and designs at their website.

Add some magic to your big day with Wizards4Weddings

By admin on April 8th, 2008

couple-bubbles.jpgWeddings can sometimes end up being a little bit formulaic for those of us who’ve been to quite a few. While all the traditions are great fun and full of romance, sometimes something a little bit quirky is just the ticket.

Wizards4Weddings have come up with some really fun ideas for adding some sparkle to your ceremony or reception with their snow machines, bubbles and fireworks. You can choose to set the scene of a winter wedding when the weather’s being unreliable, or simply have a giggle or put on a show with the bubbles or fireworks. Find out more about pricing and details on their website.

Theme your wedding reception with jewels

By admin on April 7th, 2008

Confetti jewels.JPGYou don’t have to theme your wedding reception with colours, instead jewels provide a subtle and elegant backdrop with this idea from Confetti. They suggest wrapping glasses with jeweled beads and edging ribbon with sparkling accessories and scattering jewels across tables. I suggest using paste jewels as place holders and inserting jeweled pins into your floral centrepieces. Don’t forget your own bling of course – make those diamonds your best friend!

Bridalwave column – My Eco-friendly Wedding. Part 3: The flowers

By admin on March 28th, 2008

Katie gets marriedPart 3: The flowers

I’ve always felt uncomfortable about the number of flowers on sale that have been air freighted in from foreign countries, grown in large fields using pesticides, with no respect for the local people or ecosystem. And I’m not alone: just as consumers are increasingly starting to understand that food should be eaten seasonally, more people are also beginning to see flowers as a seasonal resource.

Dress saving solutions from Treasured Favours with their Wine Bottle Stoppers

By admin on March 27th, 2008

238.jpgI’ve just stumbled across one of the most practical ideas I’ve possibly ever seen for wedding tables. While all the beading and favours are pretty and fun, this might just be a lifesaver.

These stylish Wine Bottle Stoppers from Treasured Favours can be set on every table to cork those ever flowing bottles between glasses. They might just serve to save the bride or her guests’ dresses from an unsightly attack of red plonk. Surely that’s well worth £19.95?

Cute and quirky cake toppers from Accessorize Your Wedding

By admin on March 25th, 2008

7095.jpgCake toppers aren’t to everyone’s tastes, but I really think that a well chosen set is cute and kitsch in the best possible way. Accessorize Your Wedding have a great range of both traditional and unusual mix and match wedding topper figures, my favourite being the pair pictured.

The Reaching Bride & Helpful Groom set are part of the range of interchangable figures, which feature a range of brides and grooms in different poses and of different colourings and races. Each figurine is made from porcelain and costs a great price of £15.98.

Etsy Buy of the Week: Harlequin Romance Flowers

By admin on March 25th, 2008

harlequin.jpgIt’s possible I’m drawn to these flower embellishments because I spend so much of my time reading chick lit and romance novels (as editor of Bridalwave’s sister site, Trashionista), but I don’t think that’s all that attracted me to them. They’re just so charming and unusual.

Made from the pages of Harlequin romance novels, they’re available in various colour combinations, but also custom to match your wedding colours. I’m not entirely sure how you’d use them – buttonholes? – but I do think they’re wonderful. They’re by By katskrafts on Etsy

London Underground table plan

By admin on February 8th, 2008

SP%20%20581.jpgWhen friends of mine got married last month, they had a London transport theme. The wedding guests travelled to the reception in a Routemaster bus, while the bride and groom followed in a white London taxi. But the most impressive thing was the table plan. Each table was represented by a different London underground line and the guests’ names were represented as stops on the line.

SP%20%20585.jpgUnfortunately, I can’t tell you who did the design since it was a friend of the happy couple who did it as a favour and doesn’t do it for a living, but I’m sure if you were keen it would be something you could get commissioned yourself.

Tropical table setting at Confetti

By admin on January 31st, 2008

Confetti%20tropical.JPGBored of pastels, romantic pinks and elegant monochrome looks? Try this tropical table setting look by Confetti instead. Against a crisp white background, roll out a hot pink table runner, add feather accents to your napkins, use jellybeans and exotic blooms in vases wrapped with ribbon to create fun centrepieces and make sure you have zingy cocktails and canapes to bring tropical to your menu.

If you don’t want the pink or blue colourways pictured here, try recreating the look by pairing orange and lemon, apple green and pink or even shades of lime.
